Rob Elliot: I'm trying to see positives in my injury

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Newcastle and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Rob Elliot says he is trying to see the positives, despite being told he will miss Euro 2016 after being ruled out for a "number of months". Elliot, 29, suffered a serious knee injury during the Republic's 2-2 friendly draw with Slovakia on Tuesday. "I don't think it's quite sunk in yet, but hopefully it's not too complicated," he told George Riley on 5 live Sport. "Six or seven months ago I wouldn't have been close to Premier League football or the Euros, so you have to take the positives." This clip is from 5 live Sport on Friday 1 April 2016.
