People and Places June 2007

In June we published the following features:

Alexandra Kloss
Alexandra Kloss is a talented young musician, who is studying at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music. We listen to Alexandra talk about her studies and play her instrument.

Yuko Haruna
Yuko Haruna is committed to reducing the number of people who die in car accidents. She tells us why she became involved in road safety campaigning and what her hopes for the future are.

The Brummie accent
In this programme we learn about what some have called Britain's 'most annoying accent'. Surveys show that many people in Britain dislike the way people from Birmingham speak. But we hear from some people in Birmingham who are fed up with this criticism and want to defend their accent.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston
Earlier this year Sir Robin Knox-Johnston returned from a 7-month sailing race around the world. At 68 years old he was the oldest ever competitor in the race but that is not the only sailing record he holds.

In this programme we hear from Sir Robin himself and find out how he's feeling, what he plans to do next and whether or not he thinks his age makes his achievement any more special.
