Gerbil burrows

Giant gerbils are three times larger than those kept as pets, and an area the size of a football pitch can have up to 3,000 burrows. They eat wild flowers and their droppings enrich the soil. They alsol gather flowers and grasses which they store in chambers in their burrows. The burrows also contain nurseries and up to two miles of tunnels. Giant gerbils are prolific breeders and the hairless baby gerbils call their mothers to them so they can suckle.
