
Himalayan migration
Bar-headed geese spend the winter in northern India. In late May, they cross the Himalayas on their migration back to the soda lakes of Tibet and Russia. Once there, the female digs a hole in the soil, which she lines with down feathers from her own breast. Once the simple nest is ready she will lay two to five eggs and one month later they will hatch.
