Costumes and celebrations: June

The photo

Corpus Christi celebrations in Camuñas, a small village in Toledo (Spain)

This photo was taken in Camuñas, a small village in Toledo (Spain) during the celebrations for Corpus Christi. The festival is called "Pecados y Danzantes" and takes place in June. These celbrations go back hundreds of years - this dance represents the fight between good and evil. The dancers practice once a week from Easter until June. The costumes, masks, musical instruments and flags all represent different characters.

Toledo is famous for Manchego cheese. The specialities of this area include slow cooked partridge, venison (either grilled or served with mushrooms) and pestiños (delicious pastries).
