Hi Mitzi,

In France Mother's day is not today. It is on the last May's Sunday.

However what I feel surprising is the way you celebrate this special in Mexico... 'cause it is the nearly the same in France (meals, poems from young children, flowers...). It is strange because despite the cultural differences between our countries, we attach the same importance to give them the gratefulness they are worthy of...
I just would like to add that I thank all mothers of the world for always being loving, attentive...etc.

We celebrated Mother's Day two days ago! It's already Tuesday morning here! :)I gave my mom a card with a heartfelt message that I wrote. She liked it!

Happy Mother's Day to you. It is so nice to know how children dedicate this day to their mums. As of me, I prepere my mum's favourite food on this day and I do the same on Father's Day too.

I will be looking forward to reading more about Mexico and when speaking about Mexico, one can't stop talking about Mexican food and the varieties of chilies grown there.

As for Mother's day in Poland. We celebrate that holiday very similar as in Mexico.

It is curious how most languages have the sound 'm' embedded in the word that is equivalent to 'mother' in English. For example:
Chinese(simplified): muqin
Dutch: moeder
German: mutter
Korean: eomeoni
Hindi: ma
(I hope I got all this correct. I got it from google translate)
What is equivalent of mother in Mexican, Mitzi?
It is also curious how various dictionaries define mother. For example, meriam-webster has this definition: a female parent ( BeeDictionary has no mention of parent in its definition; it says: a woman who has given birth to a child ( )

Here in Athens, GA is the same Mother's Day. Before a couple of weeks ago, all shopping malls and restaurants advertise the Mother's Day, so I thinks it is weird if we do not pay or buy some gift to mother. But, our parents sty in S. Korea, we bought bags and then sent them by airmail.

In Bangladesh, we, the Non-Muslims call our mother 'Maa'. On the other hand, major of us, the Muslims call 'AMMA'. But, in case of our mothers, most of them have a similarity in their live, livelihood and lifestyle. Major of them live in rural areas and from hand to mouth. And, that's why, they cannot think of any special day or event. They simply think of two meals per day for their son and daughter whether it's good or bad.

Though there's a remarkable trend of increasing single family nowadays, most of us have joint family till now. Therefore, we live with our parents in most cases. We hardly miss the chance of sleeping on mother's lap. We feel our mother at each and every moment for our food, for our clothings. We pester her for all our demands, we take shelter in her lap in any danger.

So, every day is mother's day for most of us. We love our mother everyday.

But, recently mother's day has been observed to be celebrated in class, especially rich and learned society. May be, after some years, we, the rest will also join them with a special day for our 'MAA', with different something to make her surprised, to fill her with joy.

what a nicely and tastefully designed greeting card! You have a refined taste. I've seen just yesterday the picture, often I use only text version. I sure your Mum's proud of you.
In my country still usually celebrate Women's Day on March 8 which is equate with Mother's Day, it's a heritage of the Soviet period. But in current year apart from the Eighth March we intend to set up a special Holiday in honour of all Mums, and another one for Fathers.

Hi Mitz,
in Italy the Mother's Day is much similar to Mexico. In this day, i prepared a big surprise to my mother; i offered her a beatiful dinner in a particular center of Rome. I have a special relationship with my mother and i'm particulary fond to this day.
