How to make the dreams come true! Part 2

Post categories:

Jan Jan | 15:00 UK time, Thursday, 3 June 2010

Today I suppose to finish the story about the realization of the dreams! To start with, I just want to say. When you make a plane for the future, think well! Do it carefully and as detailed as you can. Otherwise, you take the risk of achieving something, but not what you want exactly! And finally, you won't be able to know what to do with all this unexpected success!

Well, I'm going to continue! After I'd decided to study Bulgarian in Sofia, I made one video to my Bulgarian pen pal, where I asked him whether he'd like to see me soon. It was on unsteady Bulgarian! I was terribly confused when I sent it to him! Luckily for me, he showed a keen interest. He was very kind and offered his place for me. It was little inconvenient, you know! And I asked him to find me a hotel room. He'd helped me, and I promised to give him a huge smile on our first meeting. Here I am, leaving airport gate and smiling.

First meeting, Sofia Airport

It was my first time in Sofia and for the first time I was far away from home all along! I supposed to meet someone for the first time in another country and I didn't want to think what to do if things would go wrong! I was scared, but excited!

Lucky! Lucky! Lucky! He turned out a very intelligent and nice boy! He took me to the hotel and then to the restaurant. I remember very well, it was in the late evening and there were nobody on the illuminated streets! I enjoyed well known spirit of Bulgaria and new sense of Sofia! It was quite different then Varna, but with its own incredible atmosphere! I haven't got photos from then, but I'm going to show you these!

Anyway, instead of one week, as I'd planed, I spent in Sofia two month. After first meeting in the airport we didn't part not for a minute. We'd been getting to know each other more and more and it was found that we have common interests and goals! We both adore cycling and traveling. We'd been exploring different incredible places. Here are the best of them!

Sweet couple! Cheers!

By the end of my visa I spoke Bulgarian pretty fluently. And we were fallen in love with each other deeply! Unfortunately, it was the time to return home.

After 4 month of telephone love we couldn't stand it any longer! My beloved Bulgarian came to Moscow and proposed me to married him! This is my engagement ring. It's beautiful, isn't it?

Our betrothal, Moscow

On 4th of November 2008, on my birthday we had got married! It was unbelievable! As from that day I realized that my dream had come true! Last year I had been working as an interpreter on The year of Bulgarian culture in Russia. I'd been traveling a lot between Moscow and Sofia during the year. And from the beginning of 2010 I currently live in Bulgaria and I'm going on dreaming!

PS: What do you think about meeting through Internet? What about your experience?

Friendly greetings,

Jan

    hello Jan

It's amazing your posts, the pictures as well. Your history has something similar to mine. I met my boyfriend the first time on internet , I am from Brazil, he is from Czech Republic. Nowadays I am learning czech language( which is quite difficult!) and he is studying portuguese. We meet each other 2 times per year, but we can't bear it anymore and he asked me to marry him. So I hope that I will get married soon, we still don't know if we will live in Prague or in Recife( my city) in Brazil. Wish me good luck!

    Greetings from Brazil!!

Your experience was amazing. Congratulations for facing this adventurous trip. I've my daughter who achieved very important goals in USA, going there through a work contract as psychologist, and got on very well in an institution which receives illegal inmigrants under eighteen, and she has to provide them assistance, because they have serious disorders caused by abuse, drugs, etc. In fact she had a hard time on her beginnings, because she had studied british English, and it was rather hard for her to understand kids speaking US english , but she got through it after some time, and now she is very successful in her work and very considered by the authorities of the Institution.

Nice to meet you Jan! First of all, beautiful pics and nice pics of lovely couple. I like your blog entries. Your English is quite good and you look very friendly. I can guess from your writing. I agree your ideas about realization of dreams. One should not stop dreaming because if he remain optimistic he will achieve his goals. Meanwhile, your engagement ring looks lovely and I can see your love for Bulgarian country and for their people;). You asked about internet friendship and our experinece so for me I don't believe internet friendship because people change their friends on internet like they change their clothes, lolz. Most of them are not loyal and try to fool others. I too had few freinds in the past but we didn't get on well. Anyway, you're the lucky chap. I hope I too achieved all my dreams very soon :).
    Bye till your next blog.

    Congratulation !

    Your story sounds good.
One question for you. You already said and asked internet meeting to all guys. After you know the guy by internet, you do not contact by phone especially mobile phone?

In this time, mobile telecommunication is more easy telecommunication method, so we tends to use those machine after knowing someone rather than internet like email.

Hi Jan! Nice to meet you...
I'm in love with your story, it's so romantic =D
And the pics are beautiful, I didn't know that Bulgaria is so gorgeus.
And your story is an example that our dreams can become true, all we need to do is to believe it, and keep the faith, always!!
Bye, and congratulations for your blog, you write very well!!

    Hi everybody!

I hope you had a good time on the weekend!

To Souhila: I'm glad that you like it!

To Rogerio: I'm ok! And how are you? Actually, I write stories and small novels in Russian. Mostly for my family and my friends! Besides, I think in order that may writing in English, you have to be very good with it! May be some day I will!

To Satchit: Thanks! I'll do my best!

To Roberta: It's great! I wish you luck! And I think, you could try to spend one year in Prague and one year in Brazil, and then decide!

To Edubon: It's always good, than parents feel proud of theirs children! Especially, than it says father! I know, It's not easy to earn father's respect! I'm glad with your daughter as well! And I wish her success!

To Ree: Try harder and you'll make it! I wish you luck!

To Mahjabeen; I'm sure, you will! Your English is good as well! And you know, my husband is not the only one, who I've met through the Internet! When I'd come to Bulgaria, I hadn't got any friends here. And I just started to make contacts through the Internet! I agree, you must be quite careful and to be a little psychologist! Anyway, it depends on people as well as in the real life!

To oh: Answering your question, yes, we spoke in the skype. It is free, you know! And mobile communication between countries is terribly expensive! However, It is not enough for one loving couple!

To Lais: Hi and thank you! Bulgarian is a very beautiful country indeed! And the people is rally friendly! So, come and see it!

    Best wishes for all,

    Jan

    You are so lucky, congratulations.

  • Comment number 12.

    Hi Jan,
oh what a fussy week was for me the past one! Now, at last I can just sit down and quietly write a couple of lines to you and answer to your question about meeting trough internet and our experience.
But the beginning of my post maybe looks such promising, therefore I'm saying straight off it's will be nothing special, I write it for no reason in actual fact, just to say hello, I don't write long to you, or rather only once.
So I almost haven't any experience I can say. Some ten years ago when I work as web-designer in Ivanovo I correspond with some girls and I come to a conclusion that this way to make acquaintance is quite temping, but all the same it's not for me. In the real life it's seems much more simpler.
The end of your story, Jan, looks like just in some marvellous fairy tale, but the main thing is, that's your really life, not a dream. (Already).
Congratulations! (it seems soon ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ learning English will start to ban us for use this word).
See you again, my friend. Enjoy your day!
    Best wishes,
    Emat.

...ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ learning English - third person (LING) - will starts...
I know. Just I can't remember this gold rule at all. Sorry.

  • Comment number 14.

The Web's connicting people. I see you are happy with engagement. Wish you wonderful longterm relationships.

  • Comment number 15.

    Hi, Jan,
I expect your story will be turned into a movie some day - so enjoyable!
As to your general question about meeting via the Internet, I have read a book recently consisting entirely of e-mail messages between a married woman who contacts a lonely linguist by mistake (actually she had wanted to contact a publishing house to stop a magazine subscription) and they fall in love - fascinated at first mainly by the clever use of written language.
I can relate to that very well and I am quite sure that the internet will increasingly be used - and successfully so - as a medium to start relationships. Especially, as in your case, it opens up new ways of meeting people across country borders. That's a very good thing, improving mutual understanding between nations and peoples.
    I wish you happiness!!
@Emat: Please, don't think of me as an unbearable know-it-all, but I feel I ought to reassure you that your original "will start" was perfectly okay. The third-person-s rule applies only in present simple tense. With the "will future" you use "will" for all persons, followed by the base form of the verb.

    Elisabeth

  • Comment number 16.

:) Exactly. You are right, Elisabeth, and your remark is very timely. I appreciate that very much.
To my shame about this silver grammar rule in English I know too...

  • Comment number 17.

    Hi everybody!

    To Sara: Thank you!

To Emat: Hello and thank you! I share your opinion about making acquaintance with Russian girls. I don't know way, but it seams that they like to swindle! May be it's a part of the game! Honestly, I prefer to communicate in real life too! But sometimes I use Internet to make a first contact. It saves time!

To Elisabeth: Interesting story! I'd say, It happens. Naturally, I'm supporter of life without borders. Different unions give this opportunity to some way. But the problems with documents still appear. Unfortunately!

To Alex Navich: Thank you and let it be as you say!

    Best wishes,

    Jan

  • Comment number 19.

    Hi Lera!

I’m glade to meet you here, my Russian colleague! Your desire for learning English seems to me very reasonable. As soon as you start speaking fluently, you’ll see that the World will be opened for you and there will no borders anymore!

Concerning learning Spanish, my method of learning any language includes speaking with native people, chatting online, listening news and other broadcast on TV or Radio and translating songs! Of course, after you’ve known much about grammar! So, I’d offer you to use this advice and you’ll see the result!

    Good luck!

    Best wishes,

    Jan

    Dear Jan,
Your story is absolutely fantastic and so romantic! When I began to read it, I can not imagine that your story is going to finish on such an happy ending, as it seems you were quite scary to meet this person, in spite of that your "net" relationship seemed quite good. Some times ago, I would say that meeting a person on the Internet made me feel quite ill-at-ease and a bit nervous, as you can't really know who you are going to meet. But finally, if you want to discover people, and not only people living in our neighbourhood, but from all over the world, you need to use this big link which is Internet. I think that your story is the best example of the wonderful effect of this media.
Thanks a lot also for your pictures: I can't really imagine Bulgaria, and your photos make me wish to go there once!
    Best wishes.

    Hi Olivia!

It'll be great if you could find some free time to visit Bulgaria! It's small, but really beautiful country with its own character! I'm sure, You'll have a really good time here, if you'd come.

I'm on the opinion that people must see the World. And Internet just could help with it!

    Best wishes,

    Jan
