Hi Natanael,

your post was a great lesson on the history of brazilian music scenery. I liked to read all the information you posted. And I think it's going to be great for everyone to have a taste of what brazilian music is like.
I have just one complaint. You didn't mention my favorite brazilian singer, Mariza Monte. I like her so much, don't you?
I don't have many opportunities to attend live singing shows, but I had the chance to attend hers. And it was great. The show was Infinito Particular and I attended it in Claro Hall in Rio de Janeiro. It's a great memory I have.

Oi Nataneal! I do not really have a sound knowledge of Brazilian music, but I am always eager to listen to some new tunes. A couple of years ago a Brazilian group called "Tribalistas" was very popular over here in Italy. Their hit song was "Já se enamorar". Have you ever heard of this group? About cinema, the only Brazilian films that I have seen so far are "Central Do Brasil" and "Tropa de Elite". Happy wedding anniversary and have a great weekend ahead.

nice to meet you. I cameacross your response in reply to the Natanael's question about your name. First let me say: Your name is a pretty and meaningful name!
As you said,it is related to " beauty " in general. now I want to explain a bit more about it in short and I hope you will allow me. As you might know, mahjabeen is a compound Iranian old name which used as a first female name, and it has entered into your language since "Farsi" was spoken in India in the long past. This compound word is divided to two words include "Mah"(the Moon) and "jabeen"(forehead). Both word are translated in Farsi. It is called because some one (female) looks like shiny and beautiful as" the Moon of the 14th night "!!! So, your beautiful name has an Iranian root and origin,and I'm happy for that!
It would be nice to hear if you nave something in this aspect.

I was for a while out of the blog, lately I got curious who could be this month in our blog...well, It´s been a nice surprise to find you Natanael here as the blogger!
Regarding music, I love Brazilian music! my favourite singer are definitely Gilberto Gil, Caetano, just to mention few of them
Forro is another type of music I love from the Brazilian music, the percussion, the rhythm are just inviting to dance and if you understand a bit of Brazilian it can bring you to laugh...
It is a lot what from Brazilian music is coming from, impossible to miss it!

I usually listen to an italian radio broadcast, brasil, that made me know the most important brasilian composers and singers: Tom Jobim, Joao Jilberto, Caetano Veloso etc. I love their music. Recently I heard shimbalaie by Maria Gadu and some Adriana Calcanhotto's songs. I find them wonderful.

It's just fantastic you've done all this job for us! Thank's a lot :) couple of days ago I've seen a movie "Next stop wonderland", it's old enough (1998) but the soundtrack is great. Bossa Nova doesn't stop during the whole movie. Watch this movie, guys, you will love it :)

What a great introduction to Brazilian music! There is such a rich tradition in your country for music and dance. I have some questions:

Does musical taste go across age groups? For example, do old people and young like the same kind of music?

On the radio do you hear mainly Brazilian music? Does it depend which station you listen to?

I'm not even going to correct any mistakes because your post is almost perfect! I didn't notice anything worth 'picking on' - choosing to explain or correct.

The best moment for hearing romantic brazilian music is the wedding anniversary.
I love the Bossa Nova, it is a very romantic music.

I finished my thesis about my Post Graduate (Oil and Gas Post Graduate), last weekend, and my wife and daughter are tired too.

I had some problem with the photos, due to the website rules about copyright. I'm trying to take some photos without this kind of problem so that we can clip on my posting. So, it cause me more time to find it.

Anyway, I thinking about my new post, i'm thinking about footbal, carnival and Rio de Janeiro City (My house). My job is a possibility, too.

First = I'm afraid not. The age, in my opinion, is a division of time (on music too), of course there are people on diferent ages that likes of the same music, but each age has your own music time, i think.

Second = It's depend of station that you are! I listen MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) and i like Gospel Music very much, but in fact, I prefer to make a download from the net to my MP3 and listen in my car.

Dear Teacher, Once again, thanks you for your words about my english. I know that i have to improve, (to brush my english) every single day, but in fact, i need to listen. I don't have a big dificult to speak, or read, or write, but to understand, to listen... it's terrible for me.

Do you know that there is a music called "Tereza" - Jorge Ben Jor (Singer). "Sou Flamengo e tenho uma nega chamada Tereza...", it's a part of very popular song in Rio de Janeiro, and on Brazil.

"I'm Flamengo (The most popular Football Club in Brazil) and i have a girlfriend called Tereza..." in English.

We have a very charming mountain city on Rio de Janeiro called Teresopolis (the meaning is Earth of Tereza).

How are you? Congratulations for your wedding anniversary and your post, which is very interesting! I'm brazilian too, and I'm very proud for our music, which is so diverse and rich. But I just think that you should include in your text the music from northeast, like Axé. Artists like Ivete Sangalo, Daniela Mercury, Carlinhos Brown are very important for our culture, because they represent the biggest popular Carnival of the world, which is in Salvador. But, your post is very rich in information anyway, you write like a joournalist!
