Anita

Hello everyone,
I would like to start my first blog with a dialogue between me and a customer (C) in our office;

C: I wish you a Happy New Year, good health, good fortune and luck.

Me: Thank you so much. I think health is enough to wish for, that is the most important thing, everything else we will have later.

C: Do you think so? The people on the Titanic were healthy but had no luck, so luck is also important.

Well friends, I wish you all the very best for 2011, good health, good fortune and lots of luck.

Not so much has changed in my life since last Open blog. I am still married (to the same man, we are going to have our 25th wedding anniversary this autumn), I have been employed full time at my husband's company, I still love cooking and baking (but have less time for it, unfortunately), and still like learning English. My children grew up. That is what children do. My daughter, Csilla has gone back to Brazil. She took a CELTA course in London last October and now she is staying and teaching English in Rio de Janeiro while studying for her Master's degree as a distance learner. My son, Peter is in his last year at high school. He would like to continue his studies as well. His dream is to become an event organizer or party planner.

The first days of the new year should be happy but I always feel a bit down in the mouth at the beginning of the New Year. My mum has been gone for 10 years now and I have been missing her so much. She quite often appears in my dreams. It is a good feeling for me because I feel that she is with me. In my dreams she is always healthy, kind and she looks well. Let me share a short anecdote about her. My mum could speak only Hungarian and she was so happy that her children can speak Slovak and Czech as well. But she was over the moon when Csilla started to study English. Every time we visited her, my mum always asked Csilla to tell her some sentences in English. She did not understand her but loved so much how Csilla pronounced the words and she was very proud of her. If she was alive she could listen to Peter speak English as well. And me too....
Take care,
Anita

First of all, I would like to say Happy New Year!
Actually, I like your emotional words a lot, it is obvious you are so ambitious and not only you, but your daughter and your son as well. I wish to reach what you work for and dream of, you said your mum was proud of your daughter and I believe that your daughter and your son are proud of you in the same way. Hope you a good luck in the new year and more progress.

    Dear Anita,
The story about your mother is a bit bitter. If she is alive It could be funny. After her passing away It is bitter. You remind me my mother.I am sure she is proud of you and your children.

    Love

Hi dear Anita! I like the way you remember your mum and I was moved when I read about your anecdote. I thank God everyday for the fact that my mum is alive and well (despite her terrible bones pain) but I know that one day I won't have her and that I will miss her immensely. You know, we didn't get on very well when I was a teenager (that was the time when my dad died). But now that I'm an adult we understand each other much better.

Hey, your pic is lovely. Your dog Bobo is very cute and I'd like to hug him.

I wish you the best for you and your lovely family.

    See you,
    Cris (from Argentina)

    Hello neighbour,
How nice to be able to read a bit more about you and see a photo of you after having "known" you as a commenter for a couple of months! This is also true, of course, for most of the other names that turn up on this month's open blog. Having started to use this site as late as last spring, I don't really know anything about the bloggers before that time. So it's always a great surprise to find a blog and photos by people whose names I have become familiar with because I have read their comments.
I enjoyed reading your New Year's dialogue and I loved reading about your family who seems to be very "international". Of course, I feel tempted to ask why and how come that your daughter is in Brazil, but maybe I should just try and check up on the blogs of past years - although I've never quite managed to find my way around in the previous blog system.
Anyway, we really are neighbours - I live in the east of Austria - so you might even just pop round for a cup of coffee and a chat in English...
    All the best,
    Elisabeth

    Hello dear Anita!

This is a lovely picture of you with Bobo. I send my best new year wishes to you and your family and Bobo.

The customer is a wise man to have said those word, it's so true that luck also has its part in our life. It has made me realise the worth of mother after reading your heart felt thoughts about your mother. She was a sweet woman for sure, it's so cute to read how she liked Csilla saying sentences of English for her. I send peace to her soul.

Thank you for such a lovely post.

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for reading and commenting on my entry. I am really glad to read your responses.

#Diddy, tell your mum that you love her as many times as you can.
#Fili, I am thinking of her every day.
#Diaa, thanks for your kind words and wishes.
#Joseromero, I do believe too that Love makes the world go round.
#Guzin, we all have our ups and downs, but life is like that.
#Cris, It pleases me to read that your relationship with your mother has changed. May you have many long and happy years together! Thanks for your wishes.
#Leila, I know we were in deep grief at the same time.
#Elisabeth, you are right, I have already written about my daughter's stay in Brazil. In a nutshell, she wanted to live out her dreams of travelling and living abroad before pursuing her Master's degree so she went backpacking around South America in February 2009. She fell in love with Rio so she settled down there.
I like the idea of having coffee together and chatting in English. Have you ever been to Slovakia? If no, it is time to do it.
#Taru, I forgot to write in the blog that the photo was taken in our garden last December when we got lots of snow.
#Naheed, thank you too for your kind wishes. To be honest, I have not thought about the importance of luck before. Surely, it is important too.
#Waldek, Can I give you a piece of advice? I thought you might take a trip and visit your mother with your family. I am sure she would love to see you and hug her cute grandson.
#Beatriz, thanks for your heart-warming words.

Looking forward to reading more comments. Thanks again. Take care,
    Anita

very nice to read your post!!! Just like everybody else I was very moved by your memories of your mom...

I'm from Brazil and I lived in Rio for ten years. Now I live in the countryside. I miss the big city sometimes, but I like the calmer life of the countryside too.
What is your daughter studying in her master degree? Is it language?

You are very nice. It was great to be able to read a bit about you and to see your lovely picture.

Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us.

    Yours,
    Mauricio.

    Dear Anita,
Thank you for summarising your daughter's story for me! I still haven't read up on the subject, but I will!
In fact, I've been to Bratislava, but that was a long time ago with my student choir, when there was still the Iron Curtain and we thought twice before travelling to the east. Thank God, things have become much less complicated and now we even have the same currency, so my husband and I have for some time been contemplating taking a trip round Slovakia. One day we'll do that...
What about you? Have you been to Austria? If so, where have you been?
Do you know Baden, a little south of Vienna? That's the district where I live.

    Yours,
    Elisabeth

    # Hi Mauricio! Nice to meet you! Thank you for your kind words. Even though I do prefer the peace and quiet of the countryside to the hustle and bustle of big cities, I would like to sightseeing in Rio and visit Csilla there. 听As for your question, my daughter鈥檚 subject is International Addiction Studies.

#Szia Martina! You got it! My mother tongue is Hungarian. I and my family belong to the Hungarian minority living in Slovakia. But your name does not sound Hungarian, it is more Slavic. Are you studying in Budapest? I am looking forward to hearing more from you.

#Hello Pari! No worries, I have read your post. Many thanks for your wishes. I wish you and your family all the best too. Good luck with your new home and job! As for my late mum, she cooked excellent meals and cake.

#Dear Elisabeth! I have been to Austria many times. We used to go shopping there at the end of the '90s. My family spent a week in a ski area near Klagenfurt and Innsbruck several years ago. I have not visited Vienna yet, more's the pity. I have heard about the beauty of the square of the magnificent Town Hall where the Vienna's classic Christmas market is. I wanted to look at the twinkling fairy lights last December but somehow we just were too busy and did not go. Maybe this year.

    Take care everyone. See you,
    Anita from Slovakia

    Hi Anita!

I'm a newcomer here, but am really touched by your post which has full of strong and warm family taste.
First, congratulations on your 25 years wedding anniversary in advance, i'm afraid i will forget to say in the autumne. hehe...
Second, salute to your lovely and kind mother though she has gone long time, as i know most of old aged people don't like to learn and touch new things, while your mom is an exception, i guess she must be an optimistic and open-minded and beautiful woman.
Third, envy you have both daughter and son, in chinses old sayiny, Having a daughter and a son is the happiest thing in the world for a family, no need more, that's enough.
Last but not the end, wish u and your family have a best harvest of 2011.
Looking forward to your new post. P.S that dog is really cute, cannot help touching it too. hehe.

Hi Anita! I have to disagree with you on the luck thing. I prefer to use the term 鈥淏lessings鈥 or the phrase 鈥渢o be blessed鈥 I am a Christian and I do believe in the power of God鈥檚 work in my life. It was mere destiny and fate for the persons in the Titanic. I would not classify that as having 鈥渘o luck.鈥 In addition, if you say 鈥済ood luck鈥 then you are implying that there is something known as bad luck. I beg to disagree. Luck is uncertainty; a rare opportunity. However blessing from God is available to all as once you are a true believer. Faith plays an important role in receiving blessings I am happy you shared your thoughts on the blog but see if you can consider my opinion.
