Just one thing, I prefer endure extremely cold rather than very hot temperatures (+40)!!!

When you go skiing (3000 m), it is the same temperatures (-30) and it is not a problem for me anyway. ^^

In Colombia my country, we don篓t have seasons. Only there are two weather: winter and summer. Some months are much cool than others, but in general the weather is sunny. I live in Medellin, its beatuful place and its called: the city of eternal spring.

Very glad to read your post.Russa is really quite cold country,and also very mystery to me.I hope I could have a chance to visit it.

I also would like to talk about the climate.I was born and bred in north of my country.It is a city which is surrounded by water on three sides,and an absolutely bueatiful place.The city's climate is monmoon-influnced humid continental climate.The temperature range from 0掳C in January to 24掳C in August.There is wonderful climate in summer.We see a high of 30掳C.When the summer is coming,I go to the beath and swim like a fish in the sea,and then I stand on the ocean ,see the waves as they crash in,feel the humid wind.It is really very nice.

However,the winter in this city is dry and cold.We expect the thermometer to reach -10掳C.Especially in the windy day,the strong wind from Siberian nearly cut your face.In these days,I keep staying in my room most of times. I really do not like the cold winter untill now.

This winter ,I have a business in South Aisa.It is a good opportunity to evade the very cold winter.Here is near to 40掳C now.Maybe it is too hot to somebody,whereas it make me feel comfortable and at ease.Sometimes I always say that I will buy a house in the southern city which has a warm winder if it is possible.I can enjoy the warm climate and sunny sky every winter.

You're right.I've just checked on google maps. Sorry but I wrongly thought that your country was near pole north.
I understand if you get a litte bit bored when someone ask you a question like that. Anyway It's good to have the chance to enjoy all the four seasons and their beauty. In my country, the north of Italy, It's almost the same altough winter are not so cold.
I'm looking forward to read next post.

HI Oiga ! I think that sebiria is a sevre country because of its wheather.I don't wish were there any way ,due to my hatting of bad wheather.But i think the sebria's habitants have a good resistance against this wheather.

Hello Olga! My name is Adielson and I am Brazilian! I hope that you are well! I really imagine that is not easy to live in a place as Russia during the winter. Here in Cear谩 鈥� on Brazil, the temperature is very hot during almost all the year. We have only two seasons for year 鈥� winter and summer. At the moment here is winter and goes until more or less June, and summer of July to December. My place is called 鈥渆arth of sun鈥� because is sunny same on winter and the temperature here gyrate around 30掳 C every day. As you can see here is totally opposite your country. The people here don鈥檛 use coat but only shirt and trousers. Due the high temperature, when arrive the weekend the people enjoy to go to the beach and this way they stay crowded. My country receives many tourists every year justly because the temperature is pleasant.

Hi, Olga. This is my first entry in this blog. I always thought in Siberia as a land plenty of ice, where former URSS sent his dissidents. I was surprised with temperatures of 40 degree. I'm from the Northeast of Brazil, a region with almost 360 days of sunshine per year and can not imagine what life was like at temperatures of -30 degrees. I think the Russians can not imagine too how to live in a region with temperatures often above 30. But I got a doubt about the annual amount of sunny days you had informed - 2880. It would be the amount of hours?

Hi Olga. I know that in Siberia the weather so cold in Winter. My father lived in Siberia about 14 years and sometimes he talk me about Siberia. He lived there with my mother and they lived in Barak.
I want to travel to Siberia.

I'm from Turkey. The weather isn't very cold during winter in Turkey. Especially west coast of Turkey is hot. I think the weather is getting hot in lots of country. Global warming will be a big problem next years. Changing is being slowly but it start to threat us. I remember when I was a child 谋t was raining heavily. I miss rain and snow.I wish T could feel cold in Siberia.

I can't imagine how it feels to be in a temperature of - 20 degrees. It must feel very cold.

I've seen some refrigerators that show how cold it is inside and the lowest I've seen was -8 degrees.

I believe you must have to wear very heavy coats.

Here in my country we can experience cold temperatures of +15 degrees or so. And we feel very cold. It's funny how things can vary from one place to another in our planet.

I liked your post very much. I hope I can go on reading more about your life in Siberia.

It's amazing how the temperatures vary in winter. I live in central america and we don't have 4 seasons, only 2 seasons: rainy and dry, however we have sun almost all year. The temperatures go to 23C -33C sometimes, as you can notice our dry season or called here Summer it's not very intense, we don't have high temperatures, e.g 40C, fortunately not.

Olga, as Mauricio mentioned I also understood you are in London now, hope you are having good time:)

In Viet Nam, it is winter, now. I feel freezing and uncomfortable. I prefer endure hot tempurature rather than cold weather.the temperature is around +10 degrees but vietnamese cannot adapt that.

From what I read from you I gather that seasons with extreme temperatures are not for me, and not for most of us. But I guess spring and autumn wuold offer us very good conditions. If we could chose a place to live in than some of the places would have been overcrowded. Some tropical islands would have even sunk!

Hi Olga, i really like your blog it makes me want to think about life in russia. But at least tempreture in russia is lower than saudi arabia if i tald you about saudi arabia tempreture in the winter you will laugh.
So, i really prefer to live in russia because of tempreture this is the only reason.

I must admit that a Siberian girl who feels the cold in London it sounds really weird.
However, I am astounded to hear that Siberia has got a proper summer and mild Septembers, umbelievable.
The coldest day I remember was a couple years ago when the temperature reached - 17 degrees. Despite the fact I was skiing, to me it was really really cold

It is so true that once people know that you are from Russia, they can't help saying that you must be used to cold. Many people don't even know that we have palms in Southern Russia.
I am from South part of Russia; I've been asked the same question as you millions of times. When I say that in my home city the average winter temperature is only -5, many get amazed.
The second common stereotype about Russians, I encounter with, is that all Russians are good skiers.People think that since Russia is a very cold country, Russians have nothing to do but skiing, that is why they are so good at this.

I agree with your opinion which affects the people the degrees more than dry air and humidity.

On the other hand i' ve read a several years ago which country i'm not sure Russian or Sibiria but when a baby was born, they take their babies into cold water, because the cold water protect all illness and their didn't get cold in all life.

I'm very pleased and thrilled to see that brilliant posts of a human, who was born and bred in Russia, on such respectable website! I was living in Siberia region for a while, - in such cities as Yakutsk (in 1983-1987) and Chita (in 1988-1992). The climate there was the same as you described in Novosibirsk. I can't forget the hot weather in summer (up to +35 degree) and the cold winter seasons ("down" to -40 degree). And as in your case, it was not a trouble for most people to live in such extreme temperature conditions. At the frosty winter we dressed up with thick fur or woolen coat, thick hat with big ears (鈥渟hapka-ushanka鈥�), warm solid boots (鈥渧alenki鈥�) and woolen mittens, of course. Now I live in Saint-Petersburg which is located in European region of the country. The weather is quite similar to one in some northern European countries. Sometimes it鈥檚 -20 in winter and +30 in summer. And when it occurs it鈥檚 not easy to bear these weather conditions.

It's my first time to leave comment since i just discover this wonderful blog.

I'm a Hong Kong people and i seldom have choice to go outside HK. In here the different between 4 seasons are quite explicit. However, the variation of temperature throughout the year is not worth mentioning because of onshore wind and offshore wind. Also, the temperature never below 0 and never snow. I can imagine how cold Siberia can be.

So my home work:
1. "like a tomato" you mean that his face got the red colour like a tomato because he overdone things.
2. "the sky is like a big grey blanket" you mean here that the sky is covered by the clouds,they have blanket shape.
In Russia we can say "red as a tomato" that can have different meanings, for example if one is ashemed of smth. "Be like a parrot", that means one does the same things like other people do, without one's own initiative.
