Hello everyone!

I'm sorry I didn't write during the open blog, but it's lovely to see all your comments and catch up on what everyone has been doing. I am fine and so is Richard and all my family, friends and animals. I hope you are all well too.

I have just read Naheed's posting and looked at the photos of her lovely cats. So sweet! Chhotoo looks like a very handsome chap and I can tell he has landed on his feet (or paws?) ending up with such a caring owner as Naheed. It was very sad to read about the kittens. I hope Golden and Tiger come home soon. If they do not, it is comforting to think that they had a wonderful life while they were with Naheed, compared to the lives they would otherwise have had.

I think Naheed has become a true animal lover, and that is a wonderful thing. Did you know that it has been scientifically proven that animals improve our lives? For example:
1) People who own pets suffer from fewer allergies and asthma.
2) If you own a pet, you are less likely to suffer heart disease. Scientists think this is because having pets around lowers our levels of stress.
3) Pets are great companions. They don't need to be entertained and they never argue with you. They are ideal housemates for anyone living alone or suffering grief for a lost loved-one.
4) Children who have pets learn about being considerate to others, responsibility and dealing with death. They grow up to be caring and responsible adults.
5) If you have a dog, you need to play with it and take it for a walk. So dogs keep you active and fit!

So well done to Naheed and best wishes to all the animals and animal-lovers out there.

This year, I hope that I can organise my work better so that I don't have to work so many late nights, and I hope that all my family and friends (including friends of blog) remain healthy and happy. I wish you all the best for 2011.

Love,

Jo

Lovely, lovely! It's Jo:) After reading this post everyone will be so glad that it would be even hard to tell. It's good to see you again and hear from you. These almost two years of being surrounded with animals has brought a lot of good changes in me and in my family and I am glad about it. I did use to think about animals even before that too but not as much as I do now. And to tell you the truth, you were the one from whom I learnt it.

By the way Chhotu is ending you kisses for saying him a handsome chap. And I truly wish that your wish for Golden and Tiger coming back comes true, fingers crossed.

I send my best wishes to you both and your most adorable four feeted friends.

Hi Jo + Richard! Wonderful to see you both being together and happy! You´ve pretty sure built a nice nest in your new house and settled there well. But, I am still wondering if your brother meanwile too might become a godfather or not. Don´t overdo working long hours just sitting at a table your spine will have rewarding you with less pain in the future. Nice 2011 for you and the pets! marianna

Hi! Hope no one minds me using the end of the last 'open blog' to say thank you to those who sent such nice responses to my blog on 5 January. I've only just got back from a holiday in Marrakesh where the weather was wonderful, the food fabulous and the people incredibly friendly. Maybe one day I'll write a blog about it...and about the traumas of moving from London to a small fishing village in the remotest part of Britain! Actually, it's great to be 'home'. There's a lot of work to be done on the new house to make it into a really comfortable home. Lucy will be back for the Easter vacation in only four or five weeks, so I'd better get on with the painting and decorating. My new bookshelves have finally been built, and once they're painted I can begin AT LONG LAST to unpack the seven crates of books which have been waiting since last October!!!

Like I said, thanks to everyone (many instantly recognisable names) for such warm good wishes. Good luck and best wishes to you all. I look forwarding to 'talking' to you all again soon. STEPHEN

Hi Stephen, best of luck for you, Lucy and the other family! You are save and lucky home, that´s the good news to read. But, alas what more has happened to you? We are so eager to get to know, instantly! Let on other people the odd jobs take the pen to fulfill us with anything you are willing to reveal! Coincidentaly, there was a documentary about Morocco in the local Tv on Sunday, really fantastic and colourful country which, unfortunately, I wasn´t able to look at all the long due to some chores in my still the same flat. So, don´t let us wait too long! marianna, Slovakia

    Hi Jo,
I was a bit reluctant to comment on your post - because, well, those "scientific" findings... If they say pet owners suffer fewer allergies - that may well be because people who have allergies sometimes can't be pet owners in the first place. Do you see what I mean? In fact, we have a very good friend (a biologist even) who is allergic to cats and who simply suffers whenever cats are around - so I'd be a little cautious about such "proven" statements. Mind you, I like cats and I really enjoy their company, and I agree with all the other positive aspects of having a pet you mentioned!
Hi Stephen - all I have to say is, I second Marianna's motion about taking the pen, or rather, the keyboard, and not letting us wait too long!
