Believed or not, with coffee. I swear of God, is true! This is not a fairy tale. Let's go together through the mountains of Colombia. Now, we are in the middle of the triangle formed by the three main coffee growers regions in this country.

Indeed, pop up your heads and just take a look around. What do you see? Just the green landscape? Moreover, did you see those red beans? They are coffee beans. In short, you are in one of the biggest coffee plantation.

Therefore, more than ninety percent of the landscape in this region is dedicated just to grow coffee. To summarize, folks that live in this beautiful region, make a living spinning off around the coffee.

We are in the middle of the triangle formed by the three most beautiful cities in the mountains of Colombia. Manizales in the Caldas region, Pereira in Risaralda and Armenia in the Quindío. These regions stand for the coffee growers in Colombia and become known as . Indeed, the most beautiful place to live in Colombia.

Folks, from these regions, have cultural differences with similar Caribbean's folks. is less festive, just a little bit sorrow but beautiful and sticky.

If you hear , then, you will have a problem. You may never want to leave Colombia, so, you are welcome. Indeed.

Food in this region of Colombia is tasty as Caribbean food is. However, the food is just a little bit heavy.

We have our famous "Bandeja Paisa", a kind of platter filled with a sort of beans, fried plantains, rice, dried ground meat with fried egg on top, fried pork well known as "Chicharrones", avocado, one type of sausage known as "Chorizo", filled with spicy pork, garlic and onion and,"Morcilla" sausage filled with pork blood and mixed with rice, onion and spices. Looks and taste similar as Blood Pudding is. Yummy! Moreover, as accompaniment, you must drink with the platter our "Aguardiente", spirituous beverage, distilled from sugar cane.

Following , you may see different types of food from Colombia.

As we have seen, we are in a beautiful place, listening that middle of the road music, lots of food and cascades of "aguardiente". What we are waiting for? Let´s go to have a do.
You will have more in my next entry. Enjoy!

Hey, Alfonso, you took us to The Triangle of Coffee, but at the end of a great lunch as that you... didn't drink any coffee!
What would be the world without your original american coffee?
I love to drink coffee. Every time I go out of Italy, it's the only thing I miss from my country.

Believed or not,we, the Colombians, only drink coffe early in the morning.Rarely we drink coffe after lunch or supper. We have folks that make an exception of that.
Folks and blue collars enjoy the "aguardiente" instead of coffe.
Hope to hear from you soon.
    All the best,

    Hello Alfonso!

The Triangle of Coffee is a very beautiful place from Columbia, it is a true paradise. As I can see Columbians don´t drink much coffee they prefer firewater. Well, my friend, I don´t know if you know, but we Brazilians take much coffee every day and Brazil is one of biggest producers of coffee from world. I must to admit that it is rare you finding one Brazilian that don´t like coffee, but we like much firewater too. Coffee here is produced on Southeast region, especially in Minas Gerais. With regards to “Bandeja Paisa” I think must be delicious. We have here a plate seemed with “Bandeja Paisa” and it is a little bit heavy too, and it is called “feijoada”. It is made with a kind of bean called “black bean”, pieces of pork, some vegetables and garlic, and you can believe it is very delicious too. However, generally when we go to eat “feijoada” we take some beverage like beer or firewater. Well, according to that I could see about The Triangle of Coffee, beyond being a beautiful place from Columbia, I think that it must receive many tourists during all year. And as you said must be very difficult don´t turn back there other time. Finally I want to say thanks for showing and telling us a little bit of history from Columbia.

    Best regards
    Adielson

    Hello Alfonso!

In fact, Brazil and Columbia have many similarities; both are festive countries and they have hard people workers and they like much coffee. Well, here in Brazil we like taking coffee early morning too, but we take several times during all day. Generally when we arrive in someone´s home the first thing that it does is offer coffee for us, indeed here anything is motive to take coffee.

    Best regards

    Hi Alfonso.

I haven't noticed the link to the music..it was great, that song reminds me a bit a music genre from here (Ecuador), the pasillo, maybe it's a little bit sorrow as you wrote, but it's beautiful.
    Great blog!!

    Hi Wilson,
    Thanks for your comment.
Southerns regions of Colombia as Pasto in Nariño,have similar music as Ecuadorian.Beautiful music!
Indeed, your ´Pasillo´is just a little bit different.Your guitarist used to pluck the guitar.Consequently, the sound is more acute but clear, making your´pasillo´really beautiful.Did you ever hear JJ?.
    All the best,

How are you Alfonso? We have in Brazil "aguaardente" (=cachaça, pinga), it's made of sugar cane juice. It's a distilled beverage. Minas Gerais, the state where I live, has many allembics (=alambiques, the place where it is produced the "cachaça") in the Northeast, in Salinas region prooduces the best "aguardente" of Brazil. Belive-me. The bottle of the best it's more expensive than bottles of good imported whisky. I understood that "aguardiente" for you is a beverage destilled from the wine. Is it right
And we love to drink coffee too.
I heard the song you indicated. The latin-american is wonderful.
Alfonso, congratulations for your blog. Once again you surprised me.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Hi Alfonso,
Thanks for sharing your culture with us. I am always interested to know about people and their culture. As far as i know, Colombia is a very beautiful country with its green landscapes. However, i did not know that coffee is cultivated in the majority of landscape.
Nonetheless, i am certain that your food is very yummy as ours. as i grew up in Bangladesh, a south asian country, our staple food is rice and we also like spicy food. Because i am currently living in Australia, while i am writing the comment, i am missing spicy food.
Moreover, I wish i would visit latin america in near future. As i heard so much about latin american countries, for their beautiful landscape, mountains, lakes, and most importantly beautiul mined people and their culture.
    Regards,
    shahed

First and foremost I want to thank the opportunity given by ѿý to share up my comments or my contributions of countries customs.

Hence to say that in Mozambique we have not chance to enjoy coffee it's because of lake of regions to produce, and our governamment have not conditions to import from countryside high quantities of coffee, being so have restrition of coffee only is tasted for those have lot of mony and middle class.
