Hello everybody,
Thank you for your nice comments about my blog. It is the first time I write for a blog and I discover the pleasure of a nice community.

For whom who wish to come in Paris, there are some photos outside of « cliché » :

The Louvre

The Louvre

An other place named La Vilette where there is a big parc, an area for several exhibitions. During the summer, from 11 pm, movies are broadcast outside, under the stars, sit down on the grass. And a special place for cinema : La Geode. Movies are broadcast on a big big screen.

La Geode

The bridge where had been filmed the movie Hotel du Nord of Marcel Carné in 1938.

Bridge-of-Hotel-du-Nord

Elevated railway in Paris.

Elevated railway

To finish regarding Paris, Paris is made of 20 districts and all are very differents. You can find fashion places, bourgeois places or popular places.
I hope you will be happy by this photos.

However, as I said, I was at Cabourg during two days. Cabours is a seafront town of Normandie. I spent these two days in the celebrate hotel : Grand Hotel de Cabourg. Well known and described by Marcel Proust in his novels. Old hotel build in the begining of the 20th century.

Nothing really original : few decorations in the streets but the real magic comes from the color of the sea: a beautiful grey and the desert beach. I guess the sea under snow must be very beautiful but I had not this chance during my journey. Sorry I had not my camera so no photo.

Today, I went with one of my son of 6 years old to see the windows shop. In Paris, it is a rendez vous for children and mothers/fathers.

Each year, all is done for the children with animated toys or animated animals.
Few photos below :

Dancing girls

But this year, I do not understand all is done for the adults! No toy, no decoration for the young children. This year : animated toys representing Karl Largerfeld and rock'n'roll toys. Even if I really love this kind of music (the Stones, Iggy Pop, The Clash...), I think that all is already done around music and star system: everybody wants to become a singer or wants to be on television (not me) !!

Rock girls

What do you think of these pictures ?

For my next blog, I will explain you an other step of christmas preparation : the christmas tree for children. They are organized by companies for the children of their employees. Mine is for the 14th december and my sons are very impatients.

See you on next Sunday. I wish you a nice week and I looking forward to reading your comments.

Best regards
Chrystel

    Hi Chrystel,

nice to meet you! Your story about shop windows is interesting. I quite agree with you that in a modern society there is a whole industry which makes people not think but seek for entertainments. I mean that a great number of people stopped to read good books. At best they read pulp fiction. The same thing is with movies. The most popular are those where you don’t need think at all. I haven’t got my own children but as a teacher I worry about my pupils and about the young in general. How can we withstand the strong impact of pop culture?

Looking at the photo of elevated railway I recollected my knowledge about French trains. I heard that it’s organized very comfortably to convey people from suburbs to Paris. I guess that in France the commuting is more affordable, at a reasonable price. Alas, I can’t say the same about Russia. If I want to visit my friends who live 120 km from me I have to spend a great deal of money ‘cause the price of train tickets is extortionately expensive.

Wish you a nice party for your sons!

    Hi Chrystel
Here are some words come in my mind when I hear the word 'Paris’: Eiffel Tower, Champs elysees, Moulen rouge, Chanel, Pierre Richard, Montmartre, impressionism. It is nice that you decided to show the pictures of ‘another Paris’, Paris we can never see in any tourist booklet, where we obviously can’t to be traveling with a tourist group. It is especially good because cliché interfere to take pleasure of beauty of Paris. The objects like Eiffel Tower, Champs elysees, Moulen rouge become the something as logotype of France. To say ‘I had visited a France and seen Eiffel tower’, in substance, is the same 'I saw a logotype of Coca-Cola in a fast-food’. It is a consequence of multiple replicating in our mind. You most make an effort to see real beauty of stereotyped objects.

    Hi Chrystel,

Your post is interesting and I particularly like the idea of sitting in the open air to watch a movie. I have never had such an experience but I would love to experience it in the future - hopefully when I visit France next time. I was in Paris a couple of months ago and really enjoyed my trip. As my stay in Paris was only for a short time I was only able to visit a few places. I would love to visit France again and explore all the places there. This time, I will have to make sure to stay there for a longer period.

All the other pictures were also interesting and it is nice to know how you celebrate Christmas there. Looking forward to your next post.

    Take care

    Hi Chrystel,

You did promote Paris as an interesting place to visit. I'm sure that there are many things more you can tell us about Paris and the people there. It's nice to know about the special thing from famous city like Paris. Au revoir!

    Hi,
As I earlier mentioned Paris made on me overwhelming impression, but it is difficult to say about it staying there only a couple of days... To my mind if I would be in this city at least one year I could to say something more.... I agree with you that nowadays everybody wants to be famous, regardless of whether has some talent.. It is simply "the pressure on the glass"( something like that....). To be honest I don't understand such behaviour. Sometimes I feel embarrassed when I watch such starlets on television.
The companies rather don't organise any christmas tree for the children in Poland. It was the custom in communist regime, now usually we have the Christmas Eve meeting inside or when the company is richer outside eg. in the pub, where everyone gets gifts certificate, of course as well depending on company wealth..... Kids have their feast at schools, kindergartens. Really very seldom companies prepare packs (sweets) for children of their workers.

    Best regards,

    Hi Chrystel

    thanks for nice blog.
So far I have't been to France. But I entirely agree with Maja.Sociologists naming nowadays as "century of fools".. We live in big rush, children and adults are being manipulated by TV. I think that most people lost their own instinct..People can't think themself. It seems to me Orwell's 1984 where Big Brother has control under society. it is sad but look around you my friends. Our live has changed..Crisis in families relationship , friendships, economical crisis etc.
