I read a lots of these blogs on this site but I rarelly answear like this; I wanted reply because You seem brilliant and keen. Reading what you're studying I think you are very motivated and I am sure you will achieve what You dream. About your difficulties in english language I agree with you in everything you've mentioned, especially in speaking skill. I like the phrase " If you don't use you loose it" so what we can do is spend more time as possible speaking, reading, and listening everything in english.

hello i'm rania from algeria it's my first time here when i found this website i was very happy because i want to improve my english, give me a pardon if i make mistakes my level is not very good .
i think is very important to learn this language it's a key to communicate i'm from algeria and other is from italy and other is from thailand, russia...etc and each one of us can undestand what we are saying it's beautiful . i don't have friends to speak whith them english or correct my writing so i will be very happy if you can helpe me . i never take risk to speak english because i embarrassed when i speak because i make a lot of mistakes but now i'm not because two type of people who can't learn in their life they are the shy people and the people who boast and i don't want be in those situations .

Nice to meet you here. Reading your blog wasn’t boring because we are here for the same propose. We want to improve our skills in English. I think that soon you’ll succeed in it. You try almost every possible means like reading, listening and writing. If you find an opportunity to speak to somebody it’ll be great. I think it’s the most helpful thing. Here in Russia we don’t speak English in our daily routine. I attend English class once a week. It’s a very good experience. Our teacher advises us to speak English at home. For instance you can speak to your pet. If you haven’t got a pet speak to yourself. And try to think in English. It does help.

I completely understand your problems with English - we are on the same board. It is not usual to find someone with whom I can speak English, so it is very difficult to improve our basic skills. I think that the best way is travelling - but, of course, you have to have money and it is usually a problem....
Nevertheless, I hope, all of us here will get better. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning English will help us :-)

First of all, I'd like to reassure you: Your English isn't bad at all and your writing didn't confuse me a bit! And I'm sure you'll be successful improving your skills even further because it seems a very good idea to look for the things you enjoy doing and try to do those in English. I also agree with Tatiana's teacher: Speaking to yourself (or to your pet) and trying to think in English can be useful as well. I did that a lot (when I was alone) and I wrote an English diary. Well, that's basically what you are doing now, isn't it - and I can't wait to read more!

Thank you for interesting blog. I empathise completely with your experiences of learning English. Your blog is making me to think of my own experiences.

There were no academic purposes of learning English for me. I just started to learn English to make my travel abroad easier in the first place. So my aim toward it didn't seem that difficult at first. I tried to memory some short sentences, but you all could guess that it wouldn't have worked well. As communication happens between people, you should understand what they say first. I became to know that learning foreign languages is not that easy job to achieve in short time whatever you aimed for.

People here in Korea are so much enthusiastic with learning English recently. Therefore so many books and audio-visual aids allure people who want to learn in short time. But I don't think there are any shortcut for it. It needs your time and patience.

Like the place where you live, here it's difficult to find people to communicate with in English. It's disappointing at times, but we can have alternatives. Visiting ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning English is one of them. I like being a student here.

I'm happy to write you because I'm also trying to learn english without much possibilities to practice. I learned english at school, some travels: in India, Ireland, and other countries where english wasn't the principal language but where it was helpfull...Now I have to pass an exam in a foreign language to be professor... in art. Yes, french National Education fix to every teacher, in all disciplines, to master a foreign language. I'm 47 years old and now it is perhaps more difficult to make it. May be it is an opportunity! I believe it is. This blog permit us to travel, to see that all in the world there are people like you (trying to progress). I hope my english isnt too ordinary, I try to remember what I learned.. So I let you now, I have another exam to prepare for being professor : informatic technology (which is another problem!)

I am studying English just for fun, but I am enrole in an English course and now I am a little bit depressed as I failed the speaking exam.

I agree with Kishino when said that you learn from your mistakes, and you have to keep on for your dreams. However, sometimes you need a push, and this blog is perfect for that.

your blog has just shown me that what I thought were my personal concerns are not indeed. And that brings me some relief in part.
However this cannot prevent us from improving the language day by day, and this place represents a rare occasion to practice English as much as we can rather than passively learning it.

I also dream to study abroad as soon as I get the Bachelor in Economics here in Italy. But in order to achieve this goal it is extremely important to sketch a plan.
My strategy is set upon this simple question: "How would you behave if you were already studiyng abroad?"The answer of course is pretty simple either: "In English of course". And that's is what I actually do. Not only studying in English a subject is helpful for developing your comprehension skills but also (it may sounds paradoxical) is even more simple than in your own language!
From my personal experience, I can certainly say that some of the topics I came across were more understandable in English than in Italian, which is more gramatically complicated.

As concerns about speaking, I always have some pleasant chat with foreign people visiting my country. Nevertheless, I personally think that you'll never learn speaking perfectly unless you start livin' in a foreign country.
The reason is because you need time to get involved in a new habit.
In fact our big mistakes in speaking are due mostly becuase we metally translate every single words in English and the result sometimes is not clear in the eyes of a foreigner. Such "phenomena" are have been amusingly diagnosed as "Italenglish","Spanglsh" ecc.

In conclusion, practicing English in every-day life is the best way you can succeed.

I am a Danish girl and I love english, but I find it hard to learn. The writing part is the hardest for me to learn. I can talk it and i can understand it, i'm not good at it, but I can, so I think that I might be okay in England if I have to go there sometime.
I have english in school, and I have friends who'm living in Nederland, so they are talking english, but they have learned some Danish.
I don't like to see Danish movies, so I always watch English movies, of course with Danish subtitles, but sometimes they are confusing more, because it does not always fit, the subtitles are slow compared to the movie.
I don't read english books, but I don't read at all.
You use english everywhere in the world, almost everyone can speak english, its not everyone who will talk it, because they have their own language e.g. France people.

I am from Denmark. It is a country in Europe , up north. I go to school for health professionals, and i go to English classes, and must respond to your blog. That is my lesson. There are many ways to learn the language, and it would be preferable to live in the country, so you learn the language easier. You are from Thailand, I have visited Thailand tree times, and it’s a wonderful country. The food is fantastic, a little bit strong; ill remember to say NOT STRONG to the waiter. The whether is nice for holidays. I hope all the best.

I understand what you're writing about. English is such a big language that almost everyone knows it, and some are better than others, but most people can talk and write some English.
We cannot avoid English in our daily life because it is in our movies, games and every evere, so it is best to know just a bit of English.
Also know what it is sometimes easier to read English than to speak it, it sounds most of the time better in the head, and it do not sound the same when it comes out of the mouth.
I think it is very great that you are doing something to be better at writing in English, especially now where you will have to use it during your studying.
And already i think what you are great at writhing blogs and I understud every thing what you were writing about.

I think that in the world today it's very important to master the english launguage, so you can communicate with people around the world.
I'm from Denmark, and our language is very difficult for foreigners to learn and impossible to understand except for the norwegian and swedish people, because our languages are similar. At the same time, I also think that our own language, is what makes us unique, and very fascinating when we travel around the world on holliday. Of corse at the same time, we depend on, that we can communicate a little bit on english and hand signs.

I agree with your blog. You make me remember when I started learning English. It wasn't the easiest thing.
But then, my mother and grandmother decided to take me on a trip around the world. You know, all the smaller places like, Singapore, New Zealand and so on.
I learned my English back then, on that trip.

We where away for about a year and I was only 6-7years old.
I was the little danish girl with long white hair :)

I really love my mother and grandmother, for giving me that opportunity.
Although I can't remember everything on the trip,
it was a, once in a lifetime experience :)

Cool you try to write here in public. I also have some problems with my English. But the things you do to learn English is really good. just that you're struggling so much to learn it must surely give something eventually.

Your blog is really well written and you get into some many good topics. The fact that you are so honest about your problem with the English language is perhaps also others want to try to write something in here so they can get some exercise.

But in Denmark (where I come from) we have some evening classes as you can go where you are taught and make shift assignments which will be addressed later. It might be an opportunity for you to check if they have it in your country.

It is one of those who have been learning English i recognize that your topic is quite interested in and is worth considering. as you, Jane and as great part of people is there - the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ English Learning community, i realize that English language is very important to me, and to all of us. it appears on everywhere around the wold, and all of the fields in our life. in my part, the english language is like a over-brige (overpass ) that has been connecting us together ( well i'm a bridge engineer, so i want to use a bridge image to compare with the role of english language in this case and i hope that everyone can understand my idea).
As Jane mentioned above, learning a new language ( and specifically english language) is very difficult, and it is a long journey with very much dificulities and obstacles. these things i don't want to mention yet, because most of us have been facing them in english learning process. well, this is the first time i join in this blog and the thing i want to speak, it is: on the long journey of english learning process, travelling companions are very important and nescessary to overcome those difficulties and obstacles. and the last thing, i hope that i will be communicated with Jane and everyone in this community as much as possible. we will be such friends, right?

Your English writing is overall smooth despite a few grammatical errors. It seems like you've put much effort into sharpening your English skills. I've found out that we share similar approaches toward learning English. I also enjoy listening to English songs, watching movies with English subtitles, and playing video games in English. However, I prefer reading English novels than listening to audiobooks. And I set my cell phone and many other things to English version as well.

Although you do not have that environment, that advantage, you can still create your own English environment!

I really enjoy your topic. I had a job in Japanese Company but my English communication is not good.
As you know, it's difficult for people who can speak fluently a language if it is not mother tongue when you don't have time to practice it everyday. I think we can practice English every time you can example : listen music, watching TV, magazine, advertisement...
when i study in high school, i learn so much about grammar to pass university exams and skip the important of speaking and listening that is the reason why all of us when graduated with university but don't believe to communicate with abroad when interview to apply job( in my university, it's not difficult to pass English exam with my database English in high school because in here we don't practice English).
Now, want to improve my English to change my job because when you speaking English fluently you can find good job with high salary.
I think when we come here, we want to improve our English skills and can speak it as mother tongue.
Our purpose is logical but it is very difficult, so i hope we can try and try more to reach our top.

Jane is really on the right track choosing to improve here English communication skills. All over the world English is accepted and used .It is the official language used in many of the countries. Although, there are slightly different versions as in case of British and American English, there is no much difference in them. IT field requires English knowledge as handling of computers and related stuffs are engaged.
