Wedding day

Post categories:

It's my last blog. Firstly I would like to apologize that I wrote so little. But to say the truth I have had a very busy month. Maybe in the future I will be able to write for you something more about my country and my city.

Last weekend I spend on my cousin's weeding. There was a lot of fun! On the weeding, there are "oczepiny" and then we play In many games. For example, the bride throw her flowers and this girl, who catch it, is the future bride.

The most funny game was playing with chairs. There are for example ten girls and nine chairs. The girls are walking around chairs and there is played a music. When the music stops every girl have to sit on her chair alone. The girl without chair is looser. And finally there is one girl who is a winner. But in the middle of the game girls have to sit with special things for example a glass with vodka or with a man's trousers. So there is usually a lot of laugh.

And what traditions do you have during weeding?

    Hi , Karolina

congratulations , yes it's a well-known game , i used to play it when i was kid in the Kindergarten , but now i am so old to play such game .

you know , the first think in the wedding day we make is preparing ourselves for going to the bride's home by buses and cars ,and the groom with us to take his future's wife from her father's home and bring her to the wedding hall , moreover , we use the fireworks and sometimes we recite some poetry as well .

    Thank you
    best wishes

    Hello,

Wedding day is a special day especially for a couple to begin spending the rest of their lifes together, everyone get a smiling face on that day. In my country there are a lot of traditions and types of ceremony, since here is also a culture melting pot. But there is one thing will be the same in most countries that the groom is going to the bride home to take her to the wedding ceremony, during this porcess there will be a little bit different in each countries. In my country there will be tom-tom and mini orchestra accompanied by the groom and his family on the way to the bride home. After arrive at the bride home, the groom has to encounter a lot of the bride friends and family. There will be a lot of negotiations due to the bride's friends and family will use gold necklace stretch out to obstruct the groom and he has to give them some gifts to pass it. Finally the groom can take their bride to the ceremony but it is not finish yet. At the wedding the groom will be asked to kiss the bride several times, everone will be happy to see the couple blushing on their faces.

    Hi,

I'm from India ,so I would like to share how weddings happen in here.A typical traditional wedding in India are very bright events, filled with ritual and celebration, that continue for several days . They are generally not small affairs, with anywhere between 100 to 10,000 people attending. Often, it is possible that many of the attendees are unknown to the bride and groom themselves. Many of the wedding customs are common among Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and even Muslims. The bride wears beautiful jewellery and groom usually comes to the wedding on a horse.
After attending the rituals ,people dance to the tunes of Bollywood music. The days end with a huge feast.

    Hi Karolina,

Firstly, I wonder what you mean by "weeding"? But after reading the whole post, I figure out that you actually mean "wedding", aren't you? Correct me if I'm wrong :)

I think the game you told us is quite common around the world, since I happened to see that game here, in Indonesia, too.. :D

    Hi Karolina,

The way we are passing with you here at B.B.C. learning English | Student blog for this month not a very good as you have posted very few posts. However we have enjoyed all the pasts for choosing the great subjects. In my last reply I also requested to write regarding the days you are passing on your cousin's wedding. Thank you very much for writing on that.

Wedding ceremony is one of the best moment for all the human being, family members, relatives, neighborhood no doubt about it anyone I think. Though we are enjoying this moment in different way in different places. Like my country - Bangladesh, different religion's people are performing it in different way based on their financial condition. But everyone like to make the moment special one with their FNF. The basic structure is groom go to the bride's place - after performing all the staff, they(groom and all of his companion) return his house with the bride and does rest of the formalities. :)

Thanks again for choosing the subject and all the posts.

    Hi,
The game you talked about is called "Musical Chair". Google it.

    Hi Karolina,
This is my first ever comment in this website. The game you mentioned above is called Musical chair in India, where i hail from. This game usually conducted in school competitions. Coming to wedding part we spend a lot of time in talking with relatives simultaneously getting arrangements for the occasion rather playing games. There is a tradition in northern part of my country where the sisters of the bride hide the shoes of groom, and the groom team has to search for it. You can observe this in many Hindi movies. Some play cards, we celebrate the occasion by singing and dancing also.

    Hi everyone,

This is my first comment is this blog. I'm very happy as I found it. I think it's really helping and interesting too.

In my country, Spain, the weddings are so important for people, specially the wedding reception. The bride and the groom invite a lot of people, around two or three hundred or even more. People always wear smart clothes and women usually go to the hairdressing to make up and do their hair before the wedding.

In my area the newlyweds' friends often play a joke on them. They put their gifts (always money) into a strange, difficult-to-take-out place, for example in a big jar of honey or even worse. I'm sure that the newlyweds don't find it so funny than their friends...

    See you.

    Hello Karolina!

I have had smile when I was reading your wedding post. I imagine how fun it would be to play this game for adults, as so my daughter used to play it in the preschool's party and I remember very well this game. To catch the bride's bouquet is very widespread in my country too and there is a fight for it between the girls, as much every of them want to catch it,though this story in my country has continuation, the bouquet you have catch you must put under your pillow at night and you will see in a dream your future husband. As my country is very traditional the wedding we have also is very traditional. First dance must be performed by newly-weds and it must be the special Georgian folk dance. I think our wedding parties are conservative.

Thank you for your post and possibilities to express myself about this theme.
    Sofiko,
    Georgia

It is glad to be a British male because only men on wedding day would be made fun by bridesmaids in Hong Kong, and the games which play on that day is quite " dirty" in terms of the content. For example , the bridesmaids from the bride's side would force the groom to wear underwears in front of all people in the party or force the groom to eat some "solid waste like" objects. What do you guys think if u were being played on that day and time ?

it sounds funny and full of happiness. Wedding day is very special day for the couple and participants. In my wedding party, my husband sings a sweet song for me on the stage. everyone and I were touched. It seems that he swears a promise for life time. I hope all people have their wonderful wedding.

    Hi everyone,

This is my first comment in this blog too. It was interesting to read posts about wedding traditions and ceremonies all over the world, i want to share with the one of the peculiaritues of my country. I'm from Kazakhstan. As a rule it's a bright event with a lot of people (nearly 150 - 250 people). Everybody comes very beautiful, elegant and smart. The beggining of an evening feast is following. Entering a banquet, a bride cover her face by bridal veil, closing her face. A bride must greet all the relatives of her future husband. A singer in improvisation song specifies the names of relatives (at first) - after singer specifies the names the bride makes greeting (by inclination of the body), relatives, in its turn receiving her greeting by giving money to her, further in his song he mentions his closest friends (of the bridesmaid) - again she make a greeting, and receiving money (quite modest sum) and other people that have a straight relationship to him, usually a lot of regards from her. After mentioning all the people from his side, the song finishes, and to the end of this ceremony the tray is full of money, that is the first contribution to their family. So after all the regards the singer opens her face, stripping off bridal veil. This tradition calls translating in english "Opening a face", in kazakh language - "betashar". Then all guests take their seats and enjoy the feast.
Hope I could clearly explain and hand over the meaning of our tradition.
    Aizhan,
    Kazakhstan
