Rookie!
I started this blog talking about different ways to learning English, and I'm going to come back to the same topic, because my list of creative ways to learn English have been enriched by a new item few days ago, and I'm raring to tell you about it.
But let's start from the beginning. Few days ago I was coming back from a business trip in Rome, where I attended a meeting on a very difficult issue: combined heat and power generation. We had such a technical discussion, and I understood only half of the words the other participants said.
On the plane to Milan, I wondered if physics could be considered like a foreign language: you need to learn the rules, the words, and then you can speak physics properly. I think I probably speak a better English than physics! Then I started reading favourite italian magazine, a magazine that put together the best articles in international magazine translating it into Italian.
I found an interesting article on what's happening now in South Sudan, (another topic you know I'm interested in) and after that, I found a really inspiring article on the new frontier of education.
I read the story of Sebastian Thrun, formerly professor at Stanford, and the guy who developed the Street view project at Google. He realized that teaching to a small group of students, most of them paying high tuition fees, most of them from USA, meant a waste of the opportunity of teaching students from all over the world. Nowadays, technology give us the possibility to change the education system, so he founded Udacity, a free online non profit university with the purpose of providing free high level education that overcome all the boundaries: time, money, language, geography, age, gender.
He is a very famous guy in the internet, so when he announced he intended to put his whole course on how to build a search engine on the internet, open to everyone, he received something like one hundred thousand answers!
So he quitted his job at Stanford and is currently running this free university, offering a small group of courses, hosted by very skilled professors.
In the meanwhile, many other projects started, with the same purpose, so I did a quick research and I found out a really bright chest of wonder.
What I love the most of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ LE and of this blog is that every reader, every comment comes from a different country, a different culture. It's one of the most challenging and most exciting sides of writing here, and I got excited at the idea of learning many other things in the same way. That's the reason why, eventually, I enrolled in a course of computer science in this new university, to learn a computer programming language called Python, together with students from all over the world. I think that this revolution in the education system is a dream that is going to be realized for poor people, less developed countries, and for everyone deserving a chance to improve his life.
And I hope this also could help me learning two new languages, English and computer science!

And Tenocht, Shakespeare's English is old and quite different to ours -- but it's definitely a wonderfully creative form of the English language.

If the languages which have being used by people to communicate with each other are natural languages, then for programming languages, can we say they are synthetic languages? People have also been using their own language to make science and literature in addition to communication. As everyone knows, scope of the written language is wider then spoken languages. I should states that if any language has not any written literature and peoples of that language
do not create science than that language and civilization of that langugae can not improve and gradually disappeared.
No matter what they are, languages are tools. Than, important thing is what do you want to do with it. I f you are interested in literature, then your literature vocabulary improve, if you are interested in science then your science vocabulary improve, if you are interested in business your business vocabulary improve.
I think after some certain age it is vary difficult to learn vocabularies from a wide range of area of that language belongs to. So, than, importing thing is what is your ambitions and motivation. If you try to learn every thing you cannot manage it.
For the synthetic language same consideration is true. What do you want to do with it? And you can learn it by using it.
Best regards.

Congratulations for all your blogs. They are as clear as cristal. Your ideas are clearly expressed and your English is excellent. I would like to attract your attention to some minor mistakes related especially to spelling. For example, ’i’ , personal pronoun is always a capital letter. It is also the case for Italy. I Know that these mistakes are made just by inattention, but they very important in English. English teachers do not accept them. I would like our teacher to correct me of I am wrong.
Coming back to the prevous blog, I totally agree with your choice of the saying : "People are always trying to lenghten their life, while widen it would be easier." And you are right. Only few people try to enlarge the horizon of their lives in terms of studies just for the sake of learning new things and broadening their knowledge. As you said, both of us are here with the aim of trying to be among those who seek knowledge. This is why we are at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning Enlish.
On the other hand, I would like to ask you if you do not mind to tell me what is the meaning of ‘ItalY’, the name of your country ? My country has different names depending on the language used : Morocco in English, Maroc in French, Marruecos in Spanish, Almaghrib in Arabic. I do not know how you call it in Italian. The meaning is also different. Morocco, Maroc and Marruecos mean fine soft leather made of the skin of goat, especially for making shoes, covering books, etc. In the past Morocco was exporting this kind of leather called morocco. This is why its name has become like this. But Almaghrib has another meaning. It means the sunset. It is located far to the west of the lands that were known at a certain period of time in the past.
I am sure each country’s name has its proper meaning. This is why I think it is interesting to know about these names.
All the best,
Elmansour, from Casablanca, Morocco

Excellent post!
That is great information you have shared. I like that professor's commitment, he left his comfort zone to help the less privileged. Hats off to him and to you for such a wonderful topic!
I agree, every specialty has its set of jargon, which might sound Greek and Latin to those outside that field, be it medical, engineering, business etc.
Also, the internet provides us many opportunities to improve in any field of our choice, rather than whiling away time on social networking sites as Cleiton Rafael mentioned.
Omar, even I noticed this seems like a meeting place of people around the world and its interesting to know the point of views of different people and nations.
Would love to know more about Italy, I know its the land of my favorite pizza, Leaning tower of Pisa, do enlighten us more as Elmansour rightly stated.
Looking forward for your next post,
So long,
Sumayya, India

As usual your post has proved very interesting, focusing on matters never poor or just ordinary. Congratulations !
Let' s start with internet and its power to tear down any hurdles to get education even for those who couldn't differently afford .
The story of that American professor who quitted his job (arguably good and profitable) to set up a free university is a clear example of how much democratic the net may result. Hearing from it made me hope in a better world future!
Earlier, I mean when internet was not acccesible as it is nowadays, just few people had that chance to widen their lives broadening their knowledge, if I can quote Elmansour's words.
Today, fortunately, thanks to tecknology that doesn' t happen any longer.
Moving to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ LE, I feel the same about the chance to communicate with people from all over the world . I also get excited to learn different opinions or ideas related to countries I guess perhaps I'll never be to .
I ' m looking for beeing replied from you ! Don' t

My country name in my language is Italia. it remain almost the same in other countries (Italy, Italie, Italien...) except for Poland, there they call my country Włochy, i don't know why, there is any Polish student that could explain this? The origin of the name Italia is unclear, some theories say that it's because there where a lot of calves and bulls, and the name of calves in italian is quite similar to Italia. there are other theories, saying that the name comes from the greek word for volcano, but nobody know which is the real one.

One more free on line educational source is Coursera, they have many courses in many fields including Business and Computer Science. Good Luck in learning Python!
