A special person

Post categories:

Navneet Navneet | 15:22 UK time, Friday, 5 October 2012

It is a call from one person that makes my day, if I am not doing well her reassurance cheers me up,when she says "Don't worry, its o.k. dear",all the worries just disappear and yes she is my MOM.

During childhood we had very beautiful fables and stories down there in India. And one was of a king who had his life stuck in his parrot. The story revolved around how the king guarded that parrot and how if anything happened to the parrot, pain was eventually felt by the king. The same thing I feel God has done in case of every mother on this earth, eventually it is the mother's heart that aches if the child is in any trouble.

My mother has been a typical Indian homemaker. From typical I don't mean orthodox or conservative rather a devoted mom and wife who sacrificed her career to be available to her family 24*7. But the problem arises when children are all grown up and ready to move to different parts of the country or rather world for better careers and lives. It is then the empty nest syndrome creeps in. But being a strong lady that she always is, she never held us back rather gave us the wings to fly.

She stood rock solid behind me when I decided to marry into another faith (Inter- religion marriages still raise eyebrows and are not fully accepted by the society mostly in small towns in India) or when my brother dropped out of the premier institute to start his own venture (because in both the cases we had annoyed our dad).

But wheresoever we are mom, your life long teachings are with us; to value relationships; to have faith and to never stop learning and surprising the family!!

Yes, she really surprised the whole family when in her early fifties she took to classical singing. As much as i remember i have only heard her singing when we played antakshari ( it is an asian subcontinent version for popular pastime games like 'word chain' or 'last and first' but here players use songs rather than words). And she became an example of courage and determination for us when she performed in front of a fully packed auditorium. God knows when will I be able to stand up and face so many audiences!!

At last i would say my love to all mom's and may no child be deprived of this unconditional love.

    Hi Navneet,

Amazing story, I am really impressed. Your mother is an inspiration to all women. She has proved that age is no bar for learning.
I am also from India & I have almost same story that I moved out of my home for education and then job. The amazing thing is my mom learned how to use computer and internet for me. And now we regularly video chat on skype.
The warmth you get from you mother is incomparable. Hats off to all the mothers.
One more thing you have an excellent command on your written English; also the way you presented your ideas are freaking cool. Would you please care to share the ways to improve our written English.
    cheers,
    Namrta

    Hi there and welcome Navneet,

A well written composition. Mothers are always meant to be that way, they exude unconditional love, sacrifices, so much so in our religion they say, heaven lies beneath your mother's feet!

But lately I have noticed, most of the present generation, in this very competitive, career driven era are very much self-centered, ultimately it is their whims and fancies that matters a lot to them, everything else (for example, parents, their opinions) are secondary. Even in spite of that, the parents tolerate and forgive, that characteristic always awes me. I say this because there are umpteen number of examples around me.

Let us try our best to be good children to our parents and vice versa :)

    Best regards,
    Sumayya, India

    Hello Navneet,

Your post made me remember mylatemother. She was everything to me.You confirmed here the natural love in all mothers. They unconditionally love their babies. Mothers of all creatures are endowed with this unconditional love. Try to get near the progeny of any animal and you will see how their mother defends them. It is simply natural.

We actually are lucky to have mothers who love us, otherwise we would suffer a lot in this life.

    Best wishes,

    Hello Navneet,

Thank you for sharing your amazing story with us!

Days spent with one's mother are irreplaceable for all of us.
I always keep it in my mind as a mother of three (a boy and two girls).

It is very thoughtful thing to start your blog with her story.
Looking forward to your following message!

    Best wishes,

    Hello navneet nice to welcome,
Your writing is absolutely correct.Every mother give up her own interest for the goodness of her children.
She smiles when her children happy.
She cries when her children crying.
She worries for her children's health.
Every mother loves her children above her soul.

From your composition it looks as if all mothers in india are alike.. my mother is very much similar to yours .She is a god's creation, for her unconditional love and in return she needs nothing but welfare of her children. she will be always be remembered for her sacrifice and love for her kids above her life..hats off

@namrta..... Thanks a lot for your appreciation.... Yes i have learnt one thing from my mum that a person should never stop learning..... Even my mum is learning to use these phones and computers so that we may talk and video chat more often....
U complimented me about my written english .... And the only way which i find has helped me so far is to read as much as we can .... Reading not only improves our command over language but helps us see and feel other cultures, places and backgrounds.....

    Hiiii,
There is a saying that God cannot be every where thats why he created mothers.... All the mothers around the world are same....the feelings attached to a child whom mother has carried inside her for 9 months can never be detached....
Leave aside humans feelings are same even in animals..... Few days back I was watching some animal channel which showed how chimpanzee mothers who have lost their kids in drought prone area cried and how sometimes they kidnap other mother's baby because they cannot bear the loss of their baby....

    Hello Damian

Thanks for your appreciation ..... In India we have a number of schools and colleges where english is a medium of instruction ... And I have been to one of them but still learning english from the natives is a different experience..... And ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ is helping all of us in this ... Just keep yourself motivated and regular ..... There is so much to learn from this platform..... Wishing you all the best and looking forward to reading your blog soon...

    Hello Saumyya..
Thanks for your appreciation.... And yes somewhere with each generation the generation gap is widening.... We are becoming more self centred and feel more peer pressure.... But sooner or later a person realises the importance of the family...sooner the better. Parents on the other hand every time forget and forgive us .... Why and how... May be that we will learn once we reach that stage....

Mom is the priceless Diamond & wealth, after reading your blog, I’m missing my mom a lot, because I am living abroad and my whole family is in Pakistan. I have promised myself , I am travelling back , to pass some time with my family in few days next month, I am missing those days when I used to be feed by her hand(Mom). At night time, she used to wait for me to come to home. Living alone in an other country is strange for everyone, new language, different way of living so in all this you have to try to lead your life according to their level & laws. Let me share you something very especial for my mom, she is very committed & she stood shoulder to shoulder with my dad. Telling about the past years, my mom once told me of the hairy moments that she faced after the marriage in our community. Was that, my father had a nice job in a company, after the marriage dad was fired from the job because the company had a big loss & continuous recession bent down the company earnings. So they cut off many officers & workers from the company to balance their unstable company, in the end our family started to keep fasts & get time passed by having one time food & very little. Dad was stressed & was being repeatedly got up his nose by his friends (turned to be enemies). But the sky was the limit my mom stepped forward & started sewing clothes, going to teach home tuition & after 1 year she got government job as High school teacher. Because she was well educated. So does my father. He was reinstated for his honest work. Now they both are happy sometimes when they remember all those days that contains trials & tribulations. They smile & get themselves satisfied that what they did was the need of that era….!!! Love you mom…so much.

interesting ! one is from India and the others from other countries the last comment from Pakistan but all the same felling and emotions . The heart of all mothers around the world are the same , kind, full of love and self-giving. I do not see defernce between love and worries. When I am reading the comments I forgot where am I from? or where are they from? just thinking it is me who is writing for my mom . to day I read the news and an explosion in Pakistan people killing eachother for nothing but all does who suffring are moms with same felling and those who were killed had the same color in blood.
