Friday
has been non-stop since 6am this morning. It was still dark outside
when we arrived at the hotel to set up for the breakfast programme.
Several black coffees and bulletins later we stumbled into the daylight.
Our
busy schedule meant we had no time for breakfast and had no choice
but to grab a 'pain au chocolat' (bread with chocolate inside!)
en route to the metro. First stop was Champs-Elysees, which was
buzzing with tourists and chic French shoppers who were sampling
the goods at some of the classic designer boutiques and generally
getting in our way!
Seeing
the sights
A quick
photo stop later at l'Arc de Triomphe and back on the metro to make
our way to the Eiffel Tower. The enormous queues meant we were left
at the bottom of the Tower to be harassed by men selling key rings
and mini statues in the shape of... yes, you've guessed it, the
Eiffel Tower.
Emma's
stress levels had now reached danger zone and we were forced to
leave with the possibility of evacuation imminent.
We
didn't have long to race over to Stade Jean Bouin for our next rendez-vous
- to chat to the French rugby coach and to some of the French players.
When we arrived the French boys were in the middle of a training
session but this gave us a perfect opportunity to rest our feet
for a while and to soak up some of the glorious
sunshine.
A
spot of lunch
After
the interviews we managed to drag ourselves back onto the metro
and go for some well-deserved lunch in a French brasserie.
Despite
serious dehydration, excessive fatigue and painful blisters, we
were still smiling - the sun was shining... and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Gloucestershire's
sport guru Ian Randall had just arrived.
