
Migration from the cold
Travelling in family groups from their breeding grounds in the Arctic, whooper swans stop off at the Caspian Sea before continuing to warmer spots of the Mediterranean. The saiga antelope, now covered in a thick fur coat to keep them warm, have moved down to the Caspian, the most southerly point of their annual migration.
