Desperate Days: The Siege of Derry
Gerry Anderson explains how on 11th June 1689 Major General Percy Kirke’s fleet arrived into Lough Foyle to provide aid to the Garrison, but failed to move up river.
In the last days of the siege we hear how hunger, leprosy and fever were causing deaths and how people resorted to eating rats and mice. (Broadcast: 3rd Mar 1989)
