Protecting your brain health
Women have nearly twice the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
There are a number of things you can do to help protect your brain health, but psychologist Kimberly Wilson says introducing omega 3 fatty acids to your diet “increases a growth factor in your brain which helps to protect your neurons”. Also eating fibre and leafy greens is important.
Kimberly says the current population intakes are “very low”. 5 Live’s Rachel Burden adds that “you can buy tins of mackerel really cheaply from the supermarket” and there are supplements for those who choose not to eat fish.
