Growing up with Tourette's: 'I hated every part of my life for years'

Aidy Smith was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome when he was a child - and says the lack of support for the condition meant he went from "a bright, bubbly kid" to "hating every part of life for years".

Aidy described the discrimination he faced upon his diagnosis to 5 Live's Naga Munchetty. He was dropped from his role as a TV presenter and from the acting school he was part of.

"I was pretty much overnight just stripped of everything" he says.

But Aidy says having to persevere with Tourette's has meant he and others with the condition "learn in another way" which helps them to develop social skills.
