Anal Cancer TikToker: ‘If it helps one person then it’s worth it’
Dame Deborah James always had one message: check your poo.
By sharing her experience of bowel cancer and using social media to raise awareness, Dame Deborah’s simple message saved many lives.
One of those people is Caroline Hyde. She was diagnosed with anal cancer after following Dame Debs' advice and has been inspired to share her own treatment journey on TikTok in order to help others.
Speaking to 5 Live Drive, Caroline said: “I thought if it helps one person then it’s worth it”.
“I’m just hoping that anal cancer can come out of the darkness and into the spotlight, and we can treat some more people”, she added.
Caroline also urged people to get checked if they think anything is unusual: “You know your body better than anybody else”.
