Vicky Pattison on her PMDD diagnosis: ‘I felt liberation because I’m not insane’
Vicky Pattison tells Naga Munchetty about the relief she felt when she was finally diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder) after years of struggling with the effects of the condition.
PMDD causes a range of emotional and physical symptoms every month during the week or two before your period. It is sometimes referred to as 'severe PMS'.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, she said: “I felt liberation because I’m not insane.”
“I’m not mental, I’m not all those things I was convincing myself I was because I couldn’t deal with periods like everybody else.”
“Since I‘ve come out on social media and spoke about my diagnosis, I’ve had so many women message me that their whole life has been ruled by this and they didn’t know what it was”, Vicky added.
