Louise Thompson: My stoma bag has been a ‘huge thing to have to learn to live with’
TV personality Louise Thompson talks about her life with a stoma bag.
The ex-Made in Chelsea star had her entire large intestine removed after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. She’s also survived a traumatic birth experience that left with post-traumatic stress disorder.
She’s now one of more than 100,000 people in the UK that have to wear a stoma bag every day – to collect their waste products.
Speaking to Gethin Jones, she said: “That’s been a huge thing to have to learn to live with and adapt to.â€
“I’ve seen what ulcerative colitis, and these bowel diseases can do to people. I had a son that was two at home waiting for me and I thought if this bag is going to be my ticket out of this place, then I’m going to make that decision.â€
“I finally feel like I’ve finally put a pin in it. I feel better than I’ve ever been. It’s the best decision I’ve made.â€
