‘Heavy period isn’t normal’
Zaynah, who is 18, explains how extreme period pain has been affecting her life. She was diagnosed with endometriosis & adenomyosis last year.
The charity ‘Wellbeing of Women’ has found that around one in five girls aged 12 and 18 experienced symptoms that left them bed-bound and unable to live normal lives because of the debilitating pain they got during their periods.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Zaynah said: “I felt like the only person I should have been speaking to was my mum until it started to affect everything, my grades, my friendships.â€
“The only person you should be relying on shouldn’t be your mum. You should be able to go a teacher, a doctor, a friend, anybody.â€
