
‘I was given four hours to live’.
Paralympic Swimmer Lyndon Longhornespoke to5 Live’s Chris Warburton about how contracting meningitis at eight months old impacted his life.
“Itcaused me to lose both my legs, my right arm and fingertips on my left hand. So that’s left me with a long lasting disability but I deal with it everyday.”
The NHS is urging students and young people to get vaccinated against the disease as cases are expected to surgefollowing the start of the academic year.
When speaking about his campaign work as a Youth Ambassador for the charity ‘Meningitis Now’, Lyndon said: “If you can keep an eye on them symptoms, it could even be one or two, that could help save a life”.
