Paralympic Swimmer Lyndon Longhorne听spoke to听5 Live鈥檚 Chris Warburton about how contracting meningitis at eight months old impacted his life.听

鈥淚t听caused me to lose both my legs, my right arm and fingertips on my left hand. So that鈥檚 left me with a long lasting disability but I deal with it every听day.鈥�

The NHS is urging students and young people to get vaccinated against the disease as cases are expected to surge听following the start of the academic year.

When speaking about his campaign work as a Youth Ambassador for the charity 鈥楳eningitis Now鈥�, Lyndon said: 鈥淚f you can keep an eye on them symptoms, it could even be one or two, that could help save a life鈥�.
