Born without a womb

Betty Mukherjee, who took part in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Race Across the World, spoke to Naga Munchetty about being diagnosed with MRKH at the age of 16 and her decision to talk publicly about it on the programme.

MRKH, or Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, is a rare condition that means a woman is born with ovaries but no womb.

The NHS estimates that around 1 in every 5,000 women are born with MRKH.

Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Betty said: “For me it was a massive sense of identity crisis. Everything I suddenly thought my path of life was gonna be, it’s not.â€
