Fishing in Bulgaria

Hi dear friends!

In my last article I told you about my family hobbies. But I wrote nothing about the hobby of my husband. That's why today I'd want to draw special attention to it.

Yesterday, on June 27, was International day of fishing. Congratulations to all members of the club! And especially, to my husband!

His name is Krasimir and he's a fisherman. He works in fishing tackle's store and as I like to say, his profession is his passion. He knows everything about fishing. The rules, different kinds of fish and fly, the best time and pleases for successful fishing in Bulgaria and etc.

For example, in Bulgaria each fisherman must have a license for fishing. It's made in 10 minutes. And it's really cheap, 2 euro for 2 weeks.

From April 15 to June 1 the fishing is prohibited, because of spawning season. The best time for summer fishing in the lakes is from June to November, for see fishing from September 15 to November 15, and for winter fishing on January and February.

Exept the Black see, there are many lakes (reservoirs) in Bulgaria, where you can find more than 20 tipes of fish, such as roach, chub, bleak, bream, carp, pike, perch and others. But the most interesting is trout. It is found in the alpine lakes. There you have the opportunity not only to fish, but also enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding nature! For example, in the Rhodope Mountains there are two magnificent places, and Reservoirs. Look, how incredible they are!

Each fisherman can take with him only 3 kg of fish, caught per day. It he catches a big fish, more than 3 kg weight, he also can take it home. The luckiest fisherman has opportunity to catch fish up to 50 kg!

Usually, I go with my husband. But the truth is that my interests are swimming and bathing in the sun! And of course, taking pictures of the process.

The first step is to prepare the baits.

Then there are the hours of waiting in the silence.

And at the end is a happy catch!

That's all for today! Successful fishing!

Friendly greetings,

    Hello Jan,
Haven't you ever been tempted to try fishing, too? I'm very impressed by this big carp in the photo. I've gone fishing, but I caught only tiny fishes:).I read in your previous posts that you will go to the Black sea coast. Have you been there for July Morning? I think it's a great tradition to meet the first sun rays on the 1st of July, listening Uriah Heep's song "July Morning".

    Best wishes:Eny

Fishing is a nice activity for them who loves it and get enough patience to wait for something. I have many friends whose the hobby is fishing. They spend their weekend by fishing. Even they've visited places in distance from Surabaya for fishing. I think they're crazy of fishing.

But for me, I'm not that patience enough to wait. Hahaha...
So, fishing is not my way after all.. :)
My friends for many times offer me to go fishing with them, but all I can say is "Oh, thanks..but I'm not that good in fishing".
But the main reason is, since Indonesian weather is just so hot and dry, fishing gonna makes my skin tanned and darker hehehe... I'm a brown skin now by the way :)

Well, Jan. I like the last picture you've taken. An extremely huge Mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) that seems so delicious to be eaten.
And I really love this part, enjoying the meals made from fish... ^_^

    Bye Jan,
    Nice post...

    Hi Jan
Oh! It’s huge fish on the picture! And so stupid. Just fancy, it’s probably 30 years old but do not know how to escape fisherman’s hook.
As for me, it is a strange amusement to catch and kill animal. It is understandable if you do it for eating but how to explain this if you do it as entertainment. You should have an especial philosophy to be fisherman or hunter. This philosophy is well observed in Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. It was great interest to read this novel. I was genuinely shocked by it.
What amazing landscapes you have posted. Do you have anything else?
