Usually during Christmas time the atmosphere is very magic and warm. In Paris, thanks to your description, everything seems to be more intense. I wouldn't mind to go and visit Paris this time of the year. cheers, elena from Italy

I think Paris is more than a city. We have watched it in so many movies that when we can be there,
at Champs Elysées' Avenue, Eiffel Tower or any other place in Paris, at least tourists have to say

Christmas in Paris sounds like a fairy tale to me. I wish I could spend this Christmas in Paris or in anywhere else where people still get excited about this celebration. I have never celebrated Christmas in my life. It always passes by me each year. Each year, when it gets closer to Christmas I say to myself, "This year I am not going to ignore it." However, there is always some kind of obstacle for celebration. Maybe this year will be special for me.

first time i am writing on this blog. Chrystel your blog is very interesting . In India christmas is celebrated as a festival only in christian community ,but it is very popular among children because of santa. Children like to receive gifts from santa.

Hi Chrystel! Bonjour!
I have been to Paris in 2006. It was a very speciel and nice experience for me. Paris is a wonderful city. But although I was there in August, the weather was very cold. So I remember that Champs Elysées' Avenue is a cold street with shadow. But my memories are very kind, because I bought a cake with orange in a little bakery on Champs Elysées. I still feel the taste of this cake in my mouth now. It was so delicious! I'm always looking for this kind of cake or similar in my country, Hungary, but I can't find it in any bakery.
Because I learnt French in the Secondary School I know a little about French culture. But to tell the truth I don't know too much about Normandie. So I'm looking forward to your blogs!

Hello and welcome. Nice to meet someone from Paris, I think a mythical town, which I'd like to visit it, of course.
I'm sorry, but i don't like Christmas as you do (but ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ fan and Victor).
In december I always have a lot of things to do: to overlapt the Christmas Tree and the Nativity Scene with my chindren (it's OK), to buy a lot of gifts to my complete large family an my husband's family, to attends Christmas dinners, to get my children ready for Christmas performances...
You can't imagine my children's performances at school. It's a very good state school, but it's situated in an old building and the school auditoriun -it doesn't deserve the name- it's pretty small. There is no room for all the parents, perhaps for a quarter. Imagine never ending queues, shoves, arguments... If I reach the room, I must be on my feet, crushed, hot and swated. And I didn't sometimes manage to see my children. If I can wave them a moment, I consider myself lucky. These days I think I really love my children.
After that, the Christmas Holydays begin, but if you think we'll rest, you are wrong. We pack our bags -a lot of winter robe, a lot of gifts-, we stuff them under pressure into the boot car and we set out for our home town, six hundred kilometres far, with snow or freeze on the roads sometimes.
I'm already tired of thinking about...and this is only the beginning. I don't want you get bored, but I could speak a lot about silly arguments with my husband because of the two families, about long and boring meals and dinners, about incomfortables beds... an so on.
It's probable I exaggerate, but a little. My punishment is I can't pass Holydays
Christmas without my two families. So I wish you have a nice Christmas with your families. I hope yours be shortest that mine.

Dear Narrosgirl,
excuse me please for my interference, I've read attentive your comment twice and I couldn't find here nothing to repine, to be so sad :) It seems just about some everyday occurrences non-related with Christmas. If we may take as axiomatic the (scientific!) idea that what don't allow to scatter "to and from" our body's cells is Love - so, I think in such cases we should listen to love in our hearts, not only our minds, what are quite different. I agree with you that are more beautiful places than Paris. I was in this city for a while and I must say that the town overwhelmed me a little bit. Nevertheless has its charm. I prefer small, cosy places, I can recommend the Northern Holland

Hi Dear narrosgirl , Like you I don't like all the hustle and bustel of new year . But I think every thing is in or control . When some thing bohter us maybe we can avoid it or at least we can change it ..... For example what about a nice new year holiday far away from your home town far way of two family ;) Any way some times sharing our stress maybe reduce it ? Don't you think so ?

I say this because I have been to Paris for awhile as a tourist and I have seen several beautiful and famous places like Ifel tower, Champs Elysees Avenue, Louvre Musuem and some othre landscape that I never forgetabout them. For the grace of internet and being a member of this forum I have known many things about the Christmas in Paris. It’s really interesting and I believe enjoyable. I have never been to France but now I think I will not miss the chance if any come to visit Paris on the occasion of XMAS!!

Do you visit your relatives during this event? I mean is it a tradition to meet with the relatives these days?

There is no doubt that France is the major cultural and heritage hub in the world. Therefore, the rest of the world envy it and people always wants to travel to paris to get a touch of its rich culture and heritage. Your blog adds more attraction to our current appetite about exploring France. I strongly agree with that even in small village in France, the christmas celebration and results of decoration of streets and homes is mindblowing. Since I live in Canberra, Australia, i also got the opportunity to have great christmas time with christmas singing, trees, chocolates, and night party.

I’m a Chinese, though Christmas is not our traditional festival, we also celebrate Christmas. When Christmas is approaching, many Christmas trees are settled on streets, we give presents and cards to friends and may also go to the restaurants.
After going through so many Christmas, I’ve never thought about the difference between France and USA! I’m looking forward to see your next blog about more Christmas details!
