This is Olga from Poland and Spain!
Hiya everyone!
Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce myself. My name is Olga and I am a brand new student blogger. It is a great pleasure for me to be here with you all and to share with you my precious treasure which is full to the brims of golden lovely memories, gained during many years of travel across Spain.
So if you are looking for a way to add a bit sparkle into your day ...be my guest, sit comfortably where ever you can...and then let the new storytelling begin!
Hot? or better to say boiling hot? During summer days in Spain's capital Madrid we are exposed to a constant repetition of these two words in the streets. Wherever you go, you cannot hide the summer heat wave soon or later will find you. Sometimes I had the feeling that people (from all over the world) were only talking about the oven like weather, even though I couldn't understand them. But hey!

Now, here is a one tricky for you. Do you know what a traditional and quintessential Spanish drink is? Of course! The answer should be only one...Sangria :) A red wine served with lemonade with a couple of bits of orange, peaches, kiwis and apples floating in it, personally, I think it is the best cooling drink in Spain! Hungry? No worries wherever you move, you are surrounded by typical Spanish bars "tapas" -an appetizer or snack. As I always say it is a place and cuisine which is a real feast for the eyes, palate and soul! I am sure that even the most sophisticated aficionado of refined dishes will find a dish after his heart! Once my old Spanish friend gave me a golden tip: to select the best tapas bar you have to look on the floor...! if you find inside a bar some rubbish ( the napkins etc. ) on a floor, this is a confirmation for you that service, food, drinks and atmosphere is right :)

When I visit a foreign country, I always bear in mind that the flexibility and adaptability are two of the most important attributes to understand culture and respect other people's way of life and their customs. We have to remember that our lifestyles have undergone a complete transformation in the past decade but I believe that once in the blue moon we can be like Christopher Columbus and discover our own New World :-)
See you soon!!

Glad to see you here! Yeah, it`s really exciting story. Actually it`s very great place, though i haven`t been there yet, but some day maybe.... I also think, that we should adapt to the country, its culture and traditions, otherwise it`ll be very difficult to live there. Also many things depend on the country you visit, its atmoshere, will it coincide with your inner world or not? But Spain is an amazing place, its nature, language.... mmmm wish to be there

It's been great fun reading your first post - your lively style of writing will definitely add a lot of sparkle to our days. You seem to have quite a bit of Mediterranean temperament in your blood - have you got Spanish ancestry or how did this affinity to Spain start in the first place?
Can't wait to hear more from you!
All the best,
Elisabeth (Austria)

Thank you very much for your first and really nice post... I totally agree with you about what one should eat abroad... Despite I'm Italian, I never ate during holidays out of my country spaghetti or tortellini or polenta! But ever I sought for eating local food. To name one, what a surprise was to find out in Hungary a few years ago a very good sweet soup with fruit served as first course!!!
So, when I'll go to Spain, be sure I'll enjoy tapas and sangria! :D
See you soon and often,
Sergio

I'm not from Madrid, but I passed there two summer hollidays when I was a teenager, a fool teenager. Now, I wouldn't support this city in summer. My eldest sister lives there thirty years ago and when I was much more younger I spent periods in her house becuase I liked being with her and her children, and I had more freedon than living with my parents. So, I made friend wiht others teenagers very different from those I had in my town. In these days, we did street drinking and smoked any joint sometimes.
Therefore, I didn't usually go to "bar de Tapas" in Madrid. We haven't enough money.
I enjoyed "tapas" and "sangria" when I grew up a little. "Tapas" are delicious and cheap in Salamanca, Burgos, Logroño, San Sebastián (not so cheap)... When I worked as spanish foreign language teacher in Salmanca, I had as task to take my studens to different "bares de tapas" one evening.
Spanish isn't a long country, like yours, Ariadna, but there are very different regions. I think Barcelona and Mallorca are very different from Madrid. I think they are more expensive and more "european", but to visit them really worths, without doubt. You know they speak spanish, but as well another lenguage called "calalán", very important.
Best wishes. See you soon.

Welcome on board! Thanks for your first debuting blog which presents you as a very energetic and mediterranean-tempred young lady.
Having seen your first picture I am feeling the hot air on my skin again and it reminds me of our days in Spain.
During our holiday Spanish people seemed very friendly and naturally. One of my pleasant experiences was when I saw the locals keeping on going to the little pubs for a drink or two in the warm evenings chatting with the well-known owners about the local news and gossips not being disturbed by tourists. These cosy moments reappeared in my mind while I was reading your essay. I am grateful for it.
To Segio's comment: We Hungarians eat all kinds of soups as the first course of lunch which can be regarded as a main meal of a day. The more you visit our country the more different types of delicious soups you can taste it.
Have a nice early sping day for everyone.
I am looking forward to reading your next blog.

Welcome to this blog site and thank you for your interesting blog. I never knew that Spain has such a hot climate, I was of the opinion that the whole of Europe was freezing-cold. Obviously, I am non-European and never visited Europe. It's good to learn about the Spanish drink 'Sangria' and the Spanish bar 'Tapas'. Spanish words are so soothing, they call the afternoon nap as 'Siesta' and many a modern and progressive family, here in India, name their daughters 'Siesta'. I love the word irrespective of its meaning.
Thank you Olga and looking forward to your next blog.
Best Regards,
Rajeeb
