"The
erection of this inexcusable building near Crown Point Bridge obliterated
one of Leeds' most famous panoramas.
"Coming
upriver you could see the dome of the Corn Exchange, the tower of
the Town Hall, the turrets of Kirkgate Market and other famous landmarks.
"Then
dominating the foreground view at Leeds Lock was the tower of the
Parish Church.

"
...a building with little symmetry..." |
"That
has gone to accommodate a building with little symmetry, strangely
utilitarian balconies, and odd penthouses dotted around covered
with what looks like a mixture of lead and roofing felt."
"West Riding House Is a huge office block in the heart of the
city with little of this scale built around it. It is not a pleasant
building but an eyesore.

Towering
over the surrounding area. |
"The
building towers over many of the surrounding areas, it is far too
big. It dominates the skyline of central Leeds.
"I
also am very unimpressed with the DHSS building atop of Quarry Hill.
"It seems to have sterilised a large chunk of Quarry Hill and
made a very effective barrier between the city and thousands of
people who live in the Burmantofts area."
