"The erection of this inexcusable building near Crown Point Bridge obliterated one of Leeds' most famous panoramas.

"Coming upriver you could see the dome of the Corn Exchange, the tower of the Town Hall, the turrets of Kirkgate Market and other famous landmarks.

"Then dominating the foreground view at Leeds Lock was the tower of the Parish Church.

"West Riding House Is a huge office block in the heart of the city with little of this scale built around it. It is not a pleasant building but an eyesore.

"The building towers over many of the surrounding areas, it is far too big. It dominates the skyline of central Leeds.

"I also am very unimpressed with the DHSS building atop of Quarry Hill.




"It seems to have sterilised a large chunk of Quarry Hill and made a very effective barrier between the city and thousands of people who live in the Burmantofts area."
