The Edinburgh International Festival is founded

The Edinburgh International Festival was founded in 1947; the following year (on 29 August) the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scottish Orchestra, conducted by Ian Whyte, performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with soloist Yehudi Menuhin.
