Musicians’ Union Strike

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s proposal to disband five of its ensembles, including the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ SSO, and the cancellation of about two weeks of that summer’s ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Proms. When the strike was called off the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra had been reprieved, but a number of other ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ ensembles were axed.

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ announced in February 1980 that five of its orchestras were to be abolished.
