Baggers Originals

Jessica McLean spends her time living between Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Ireland, where she lives with her partner, professional and Irish International rugby player Mike McCarthy.

Jessica runs her own business Garbeau: made to measure, which she started five years ago whilst studying for a Fashion degree at Northumbria University. She also works as a part-time model.

Jessica saw an opportunity to re-launch a successful children’s clothing brand called Baggers which her mum, Angela, started 25 years ago. What is unique about Baggers is that all products tuck into an attached pocket which forms a bag for the children to carry. Jessica was the first child to wear and model Baggers and knew they would sell in today’s market, believing that a good idea is always a good idea.

After only two weeks of researching the re-launch along with her mum, co-director Anelise Siddle and student Natalie Diver, Jessica saw BYOB advertising for pre-start and new businesses to apply for the television programme. Jessica knew it would be a good opportunity to apply as this would support the launch of Baggers.

Although Richard hasn’t invested, Baggers Originals are now working with a retail chain with over 400 outlets in the UK – the team are confident and determined that Baggers are back!
