Meet Stefan Dennis

Stefan Dennis is best known for playing Paul Robinson in Neighbours, the longest-running character in Australian television history. Born in the rural town of Tawonga, Victoria, Stefan first discovered performing as an 11-year-old in an amateur production of Oliver! before moving into music, singing alongside his brother Chris at weddings and charity events. At 16, he began a five-year culinary apprenticeship to support his dream of showbusiness, before relocating to Melbourne to pursue acting full-time.

After small roles in Infinity Limited and The Henderson Kids, Stefan auditioned for a brand-new soap opera, Neighbours, in 1984. Cast as Paul Robinson he appeared in the very first episode in March 1985, a role that would define his career. Paul quickly became one of Ramsay Street’s most iconic villains, and Stefan went on to feature in over 6,000 episodes across four decades, surviving brain tumours, bankruptcy, betrayals and even the loss of a leg. Alongside the drama, Stefan enjoyed success in music, with his 1989 single Don’t It Make You Feel Good reaching number 16 in the UK charts.

Stefan originally departed Neighbours in 1992 to pursue work in the UK, starring in West End productions including Blood Brothers as well as numerous Pantos. He later joined ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scotland’s River City before returning to Australia in 2003. In 2004, he reprised his role as Paul Robinson, remaining in the cast until the show’s first cancellation in 2022. When Neighbours was revived by Amazon the following year, Stefan returned once again, remaining its only original cast member from episode one through to the show’s second conclusion in 2025.

Away from acting, Stefan is passionate about motorsport, enjoys painting, and unwinds with comedy, a chai latte and a malt whisky. He has performed at the Royal Variety Performance, presented awards at the Daytime Emmys, and has been married to his wife Gail for 25 years. Together they have three children, Cameron, Declan and Darci. Now, after decades on Ramsay Street, Stefan is ready to swap scripts and soapland scandals for sequins and Sambas as he takes to the Strictly Come Dancing Ballroom.
