Chris Robshaw
Meet Chris Robshaw
Chris Robshaw, former captain of the England Rugby Team, is trading scrums for sequins as he takes on Strictly Come Dancing this season. Born in Surrey in 1986, Chris grew up as the second of three brothers and found his love of rugby at a young age, joining Warlingham RFC at just seven. Despite a challenging childhood marked by the loss of his father and a dyslexia diagnosis at age 10, Chris’s determination and passion for sport shaped his future both on and off the field.
Chris’s professional rugby career spanned 18 years, primarily with Harlequins, where he made 300 appearances and led the club to their only Premiership title in 2008/09, earning the Premiership Player of the Year award twice. He also earned 66 caps for England, captaining the team 43 times and part of the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2016. Following his retirement from rugby in 2022 after a stellar career, Chris has transitioned into business, working with sports investment firms and co-founding the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation with his wife, soprano Camilla Kerslake, to provide opportunities for children in sport and music.
Off the field, Chris is a devoted husband and father to his two sons, Wilding and Hunter. While his only dance experience comes from 'sticky club floors', he’s looking forward to embracing the Strictly challenge, especially the Cha Cha Cha, which his young son amusingly thinks means 'camel'. Known for his dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit, Chris is ready to bring the same energy and commitment to the dancefloor that made him a legend in rugby.
Away from rugby and business, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and children, who he says will be his ultimate cheerleaders on Strictly.
