Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is best known as one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers, with a career spanning across Europe and international football. Born in Suriname as the youngest of six children, Jimmy moved to the Netherlands with his mother and siblings at the age of six. Now married to Natalie and a proud father of four daughters, Jimmy says his family’s love of Strictly is a huge reason he’s stepping onto the dancefloor this year.

After beginning his career in the Netherlands with Telstar and AZ Alkmaar, Jimmy’s big break came when he moved to Portugal, winning the Taça de Portugal with Boavista in 1997. His goalscoring talent soon brought him to England, where he joined Leeds United and claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in 1999. A spell with Atlético Madrid followed before Jimmy returned to England with Chelsea in 2000, where he won another Golden Boot and cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most feared forwards. Later stints with Middlesbrough, Charlton and Cardiff City rounded off a career that also saw him represent the Netherlands at the 1998 World Cup.
After hanging up his boots in 2008, Jimmy turned to management, achieving promotion with Burton Albion and later managing Queens Park Rangers and Northampton Town. More recently, he returned to Burton for a second spell before joining Gareth Southgate’s England coaching staff, where he was part of the set-up for Euro 2024. Alongside his coaching, Jimmy has become a familiar face on TV, regularly appearing as a pundit across Sky Sports, 蜜芽传媒 and ITV.

Now swapping punditry for the Paso Doble Jimmy admits dancing will be a whole new challenge compared to football finals and touchline tactics. His daughters, who are devoted fans of the show, are thrilled to see him take part and he says he’ll be dancing for them as much as himself. With two Golden Boots already to his name, Jimmy’s hoping to add a glitterball to the collection.
