Meet Ross King
Ross King is best known as the LA Showbiz Correspondent for ITV Daytime, appearing daily on Good Morning Britain and Lorraine. Born in Glasgow in 1962, Ross began his broadcasting journey at just 16 years old when he landed a job at Radio Clyde as the Saturday boy making teas and wiring cables. Within a few years, he became the station’s youngest-ever presenter, later earning a coveted Sony Award for his radio work. His early career in the UK saw him present shows for Capital Radio and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 before moving into television, where he hosted Young Krypton, Holiday, Pebble Mill at One and his own ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ chat show, The Ross King Show.
In 1993, Ross relocated to Los Angeles and became ITV’s LA/Showbiz Correspondent, a role he continues to this day. Over more than 30 years he has brought viewers exclusive coverage of the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, Tonys and Golden Globes, while interviewing some of the world’s biggest stars, from Beyoncé and Lady Gaga to George Clooney and Tom Cruise. His career in the US also saw him serve as Entertainment Anchor on LA’s KTLA Primetime News, where he won four Emmys and a Golden Mic Award.
Alongside broadcasting, Ross has tried his hand at acting, appearing on stage as Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, in the Olivier-nominated Dick Whittington, and even making a cameo in the Hollywood blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow. In recognition of his remarkable career, Ross was appointed MBE in 2018 for services to broadcasting, the arts and charity, an honour presented to him by Queen Elizabeth II.
Now, after a lifetime spent reporting from red carpets and glittering events, Ross is ready to take to a new stage: the Strictly Come Dancing Ballroom. From Oscars night in Hollywood to Saturday nights in Elstree, he says he’s excited, and a little nervous, to swap interviewing A-listers for learning to dance. After decades of telling other people’s stories, it’s finally his turn to step into the spotlight.
